never knew it was crap until now... to be honest i didn't know it existed until last week when it was a focus that they put a jr supercharger in it. i thought that wasn't that bad since that's actually an expensive thing but notice how it only took like a second or so off its times.

BTW as far as I've heard, the "tuners" working on the cars are just actors with very little experience in their supposed specialties. You can tell their knowledge isn't exactly extensive and their little spiels are very scripted. The body/exterior guy especially pisses me off. Someone needs to put a black hood on his head and beat him soundly with a bat. These guys say stuff like "These cross-drilled and slotted brake rotors will reduce his stopping distance" without saying why or how they arrived at such conclusions. The info they get comes directly from the manufacturers of the products they blindly install. There's no theme, their installs aren't always clean, and I wonder what happens to the cars they modify after they roll out of their little garage?

lol, i have seen that show b4 and its crap. I do enjoy watching Trucks and Horsepower tv. the show which xhibit tricks out rides is very very nice and clean. some of the stuff they do is little too showy/flashy and doesn't rub me the right way but atleast they went all the way and prolly enough to get you to win a few car shows.

I guess I am a bit upset they looked at the civic and automatically knew it had no potential....especially since they put no effort into it.Especially with their terrible job with it. No turbo, swap,or even an intake.

BTW what exactly did they do to the intake resonator?

From what I saw they did nothin real impressive. The Audi or the AE86 Corolla were the best ones. The guy with the Miata didn't make out to bad either.

They didnt say it had no potential. They just figured she didnt need a real fast daily driver since she already had a track car. Its not a crap show. Granted they dont go all out and go crazy with all sorts of mods on EVERY car, but some of them actually do get some very good treatment. The two guys who had the sti and the srt4 both made out too!

Pimp My Ride always seems to mix rice with ghetto bling. I watch it to laugh at the fact that some poor idiot now has a freakin wooden trunk with a basketball net in it. Some of the mods they do seem to be put on just so sponsors can get their products on the show.

agreed.... pimp my ride always has to put something stupid in......the only nice one was the escort they changed into the bmw OMG that was hot. but yea, ive been waiting for this tuner transformation thing so i can flame on it.
1.they kept bragging how they "freed up the flow" and make a big deal to "pop the hood" when they showed the 1 sec engine shot the resonator was removed and stock intake remained!
2.at the end they called it a "drag race demon" Hhahhahahahahhahah

Agreed, Tuner Transformation "tuning team" blows. But the episode where they brought the owner of VISHNU tuning in to tune the hell out of that EVO III was bad a$$. That car was so the bomb when they were done with it, made me want to trade in the vic and drop it off to him. Granted that he didn't even let the "team" touch the car, they just stood back and watched the master. I'm pretty sure they ran a full 3" cat back system and even added an extra fuel tank in the trunk just for high octane, and at the flip of a switch the engine used that fuel and the ecu reworked itself to a piggyback system and the EVO had like 175 extra HP or something like that. It was sweet!

God i hate that show. I think its funny how the few cars that came out good such as the evo werent even done by those 3 idoits. All the decision making and installs were done by the guys that acutally know what they're doing (i.e. VISHNU). As far as im concered that show is no better then that guy that got the super charger and didnt even know what it was.

WHO ARE THEY GONNA BRING OUT TO TUNE A CIVIC COUPE???!!!!! It's not even turbo, hell any lil 16-17 year old could do the job they did. Who was yall expecting some all great HONDA CIVIC TUNNING GOD to embrass the coupe? lol

why does the show suck? Just cuz the didnt "turbo, engine swap etc." to the car? Hmmm... when they had the evo, sTI, GTI, RX8, svt FOCUS, M3, Audi etc. those shows where great and everybody loved them. Than they get a honda on the show and everybody calls weak? You guys are lame. What do you expect? It's a honda, didnt you watch the inserts? It's her daily driver and she has a drag car... so why turbo it, why engine swap? She had a teg before. You can't help it if TT felt a turbo just aint making enough HP or cutting it for the engine, or made the car to what you see on EVERY FREAKIN ROAD today, what they did for the car just fits the mold of the car and engine.

Yall know if it was turbo or engine swap, ud praise the show for a remarkable transformation. So stop bitchin... except what they did to the car.

^um no it's the fact that when they did have good cars they couldn't really work on them, and the guy that does the car's styling all he does is pick crap out to throw on it. also with the civic all they yeah it's not a great car, but they were calling a venom module a computer controller for fuel which seems like they could of gotten an SAFC2 for that.. injectors that people couldn't get to fit, but then again someone said somebody got them to work so it's possible, and that blonde dude said the exhaust was 2.5" and if that's true **** that's too big for n/a..but on the other hand it did look alright in the end, but it's the fact that when you listen to them talk there is a hint of uncertainty in them sometimes about what they're talking about.. and also like someone said when the one guy picked up the vortech sc the other guy had no clue what it was.

I agree with all of that but IMO, they shouldve gone much further with the 7th gen than they did simply because I'm a honda enthusiast and I think too many people discredit the civic too often. What they did with the civic segment made it seem like I was watching HP tv.

ok, they might not have said it but it was implied.d17's basically have no potential anyway without boost or a swap.I just remembered they only had a 5k budget on the civ.

Oh, here's the TT thread. I watched that show too. What a letdown. Yeah, it was her dayly driver, but they did all the usual stuff that we all know doesn't actually work.
And the NEONS??????

Sad. I was sorta hoping they knew something WE didn't.

It was not implied. No where in their discussion before the project was started did they say anything really negative about the car or its power plant. The only thing negative I heard come out of any of their mouths was the word "little peashooter" when George called it a 1.6 litre. Obviously he doesnt know much about hondas. They even said that there are a million things that they could to do it which is why Johnny B said he didint know wether to get excited about it or just walk away. They are a dime a dozen and the aftermarket support is so huge they could do whatever they wanted, but why when she already has her track car. If you have it recorded, go back and watch the very beginning and then come back and tell me how it they implied it had no potential. The cost involved is probably the main reason why they didnt want to go crazy with it, but they couldve atleast put a bottle in it like they did with the RX-8.

Ok. I will ask you instead. Does a N/A d17 powered car have much potential?
I need expert advice from you.I'm sure they probably knew it wasn't worth doing much do the engine other than the fact of the budget. Especially when you get 1-2 hp from a intake and maybe 3 from a catback.Thats what WE know. It's true George might not know much about hondas.I guess since there wasn't much money, it wasn't worth putting effort into the project. It would have been better if they had a bigger budget. The budget tells me they didn't want to do much in the first place.

BTW: Anyone think there actually was a slight improvement by removing the resonator?I guess it's better than wasting money on an intake.

I wouldve expected them to put a swap in, do the suspension, wheels, and maybe a body kit and some graphics like they usually do. Yes that wouldve put them over budget, but I've seen them go way over budget on a few cars. This is why I was very disappointed. PLUS, the girl is a drag racer. You know darn well she probably wants somethin with some real power. You wouldve thought that they would improve her car to atleast to a point where it would satisfy her needs for a daily driver. Hell, I seen them go way in the hole on the budget for that POS paseo with the RWD toyota engine/tranny!!!!!! they spent so much time and money on it and it belonged to a friggin RICER!!!!!!!! Like he even knows what to do with a serious competition drift car. That show pisses me off. HONDA DESERVES MORE CREDIT!!!
