Request for D17 tuning guides
Since 2k4 4dr civic is a d17 engine, have any suggestions?, ideas how to tune this puny engine. Well most of you probably recommend to do engine swap with K20's, well K20 engine cost is in 5k - 7k, what about B16, b17 or b18 could these engines will fit to 2k4 or 2k5 4dr civic?
i'd love to say they'd be great motors...but i've gotten into a bind with that situation. I'm finding out that the swap for the older Pre OBD-1 motors may not be sucha good idea unless you do want to rip out all of the OBD II components out of your car. Most of the new tech out there ins't so swap friendly unless you get something of the same genre, like the K-20. If you know someone who can do the pre OBD stuff, great...more power to you, but don't get caught. My buddy jenna and I were darting around in her 03 civic. We got pulled over because the officer said the exhaust was abnormally loud. No lie, the exhaust was damn loud. Well, the officer asked to check under the hood, this happened to be one of Sacramento's new Street task force that really knew his stuff. In the end it was a 1000 $+ fix it ticket for the components on the motor and the fact that she had an older B-16A in there... If you don't live in Cali, you should be fine... if you live here, be very carefull and at least make it look like the motor goes to your car. Oh yeah... don't try to lie and say it's a D-17, he got all pissy when i insisted that's what it was.
Also, Sacramento cops aer way out on a power trip limb, so i wouldn't freak.
