AUTOWEEK: Review of Mazdaspeed RX-8
http://autoweek.com/article.cms?articleId=101179
By the way, that's not the actual Mazdaspeed RX-8, just an 8 with a few bolt ons from the dealer. Here's the actual car to watch for:
http://roadandtrack.com/article.asp?...rticle_id=1627
Speed Magazine, Availible on Oct 26.
"Renegade Rotary
SPEED Editor Sam Mitani gains exclusive access to Mazda's super-secret RX-8. With its specially-designed Mazdaspeed suspension improvements (shocks and springs, anti-roll bars) and supercharged rotary, this is one mean sports car, lapping Willow Springs faster than a Porsche Boxster S or the Nissan 350Z."

still wont match an evo MR or a wrx STI around the track...
Good car but all honesty its only peak performance is through the curves, just about everything will eat it alive in a straight away. Let me know when mazda speed comes out with thier version that goes under 6 secounds to 60mph and has some torque....

i saw that in 2006 they are gonna offer electronically assisted turbo for the RX-8 as a $3000 option. suposedly this allows the turbo to kick in earlier at lower RPMs and power power in the higher RPMs. I saw it on the Speed Channel a couple weeks back.

The RX-7 was also 40,000 dollars in 1993. Adjust for inflation and that is about 48,000 today. For that price it better be faster than a 26,000 dollar RX-8. The Renesis makes 238 crank hp where the old 13B-REW made 255 hp twin sequential turbos. The Renesis is an amazing motor and good things will come for it....wait and see.

no no, nothing beats TRD's prices. Want a TRD oil cap? 100 bucks. Don't even get me started on the other things they sell.

I for one, am very happy that they are selling the Z and the 8 with affordablility in mind, with a little more liveability. Even if it means less performance. We can sit here and snoot all we want at them all day, but the bottom line is that if they brought these cars back as successors to be even better than the last generation, then nobody short of 100,000 dollars a year could afford one.

Anyhow RX-8 is crazy. I'm guessing its more reliable than a rx-7, its has 3 doors, probably better luxury features and it looks freaking sick. I mean if you were to take a stock RX-8 and compare it to a stock RX-7 and RX-8 in my opinion looks like it would cost more.
