Top Speed
my friend said he went 135 mph in his 2002 civic ex with a aem intake with headder back..
i dont think his basically stock honda would hit this speed with minor bolt-ons. I want to kno if anybody has acheived or herd of this speed being reached with his mods, which aint many... kno 135 isn't fast... i just dont believe him. i think the computer would only let him hit about 125 tops.... he insists he went 135 and won't show me.

there is alot of threads about this. the most i ever hit was about 125 on the nj turnpike. but the funny thing is, i tried again a few weeks back and it maxxed out at 104!!!!! i was so pissed but im pretty sure it was because the sunroof was fully open. people told me it affects the aerodynamics in a bad way. hope it was that...
the ECU wont let him hit 135. Mods don't make you car top out futher, it makes your car faster. Just cuz the tach says 140 doesnt mean you can hit it. After a certain speed, the aerodynamics of the civic come to play and it just can accelarate that far. I resepct the people who post real speeds. If your saying you top out in the ex @ 135 you are posting BS.

i can hit 130 and keep on going with intake header exhaust and some other stuff. no but seriuosly, can you hit 130 in your civic assuming you own a civic? Its tough to get up to 105 like acurstype01 was saying. Plus it would take about 4 miles to do it
ive done 125 on my ex it doesn have a speed limiter but it takes forever to get there
not even with lots of mods there is no way an ex will go 135 dont believe him the engine woud be like at 8k rpms if it were to get there
ive gone 135 on my friends ep3 si and it was hard for him to get to that speed

this is a repost!!! we have covered this like 4 times in that last couple of days. 105-110 on an auto and 120-125 on a stick. That is with everything stock. Autos are governed and 5speeds are not.The civic stops going because it doesnt have enough HP and the aerodynamics suck. If u put on i/h/e u could probably do 130-135 b4 u hit the rev limiter at 7300rpm.

I have never really tried but I went for a test drive after I put my ractive mid pipe on and hit 110 in 4th. So I imagine 120 is possible with a 1k rpm drop from 4th to 5th. But 130 seems like it would be pushin it. There I belive at one time was a formula for how much hp it takes to keep a car at a certain speed .........less the areo factor though. But 127 base fly hp is not really a bunch......but the car is fairly aero dynamic.

Federal DOT law requires manufacturers to govern their vehicles top speed at a speed below or equal to the safe operating speed rating of the OEM tire. The civic is H-rated, therefore the ECU must govern the car at or before 130mph actual speed. (this is probably close to 135 or so indicated speed)
