Two made the grade as most reliable: the Buick Regal, which has been discontinued for 2005, and the Pontiac Grand Prix. Both are made by General Motors Corp.

buick yes. pontiac grand prix- woot. if they get rid off the overheating then thumbs up to them.

its not really new that european cars are faulty like they said about BMW- 120 motors and 28 just for the seats, i mean **** jag's are a joke since they have ford motors now but hey if you can afford a 116k 760i you better be able to afford the work needed to keep up on it, and VW jetta have always had a bad rep for reliablitly atleast from the people i know with them. ah the price you pay for style. BTW im not flaming on european cars they are nice and do have very stong points like power and handling

yea, my friend owns a new bimmer and he said the electronics sucks. but the performance's good. you are paying for the badge anyways when u buy european cars. japanese with similar performance usually cost a few grand less.

I'm just glad I got rid of my Golf before the problems started to pile up.

It's too bad that guy from this site who was buying a mercedes a few weeks ago didn't read this first.

Is what a lot of European car owners are doing... Seriously, I have a cousin that has a Jetta, an upgrade from his Civic coupe, and he says its too expensive to go European. He loves the power and handling, but whenever something goes wrong he's screwed.

I can't whine about the Civic.

my friend has a 99 bmw 323 4 door and every month something new comes up last thing he had to replace the rear passenger window motor and the whole thing was 600, every oil change at the dealer is 78+tax is ridiculus.
that article is very true if i had the money to buy an expensive car id rather go with acura infinity or lexus
mercedes and bimmers are just for looks
plus performance wise japanese brands are catching up to them for example the new acura rl the lexus ls430 and the infinity M45

also another thing that i just learned the new M3 computer detects if the car has been raced and after 3 quarter mile launches if something breaks when u take it to the dealer and they plug in the car it will appear on their computers and automatically ur guarrantee is voided a performance car and u can't even race it? WTF
also the 01-02 M3 had a major recall because the crankshaft was breaking in two after passing certain rpms therefore ruining the whole engine

yes european cars are crap nowadays

I have to disagree with the opinion that European cars are crap. They may require more repairs ,but this could be due to the fact that they are pushing the limits of technology. BMW's seem to have more computers than the frickin space shuttle. BMW, Porsche, Mercedes are performance leaders for a reason. The development of new technologies is inherently prone to problems. U.S. cars reliablity has increased because they have been using the same parts bin for many, many years. They are just now starting to stray away from their well proven pushrod powerplants. As for the Japanese, they do build high quality stuff with a fair amount of technology, but for the most part, they do not build awe inspiring vehicles. Don't get me wrong, I love Japanese cars, but I don't dream of owning a Lexus or Acura. I want the ultimate driving machine, and if that means I have to work through new technology with BMW, I am willing to do it.

truly I have to comment on this thread as I own one..."with more power there comes more responsibility"...a quarter of my interior has more gadgets than the entire interior of a civic...so all u bashing on european cars...consider the quote I just inserted.

Oh yea, I love all types of cars, but technology wise...no other compares to European cars.

well, european cars usually come out with new stuff, but then after a year or two, japanese will come up with their own version of stuff that's more reliable. this is usually how it goes. :/

Trix has a little shameless behaviour in the past
My friend works by mercedes garage and he said that mercedes s**** big time, like 10 years ago if you had mercedes, then you had reliable car, now you have overpriced s***.
BMW is the same. In 1990 BMW ,mercedes and VW technicians where saying that japanese cars where bad because they have too much electronic. Now these cars are trying to folow with electronic. VW like Golf, Bora (Jetta), Beatle etc have all kinds of electric problems.

Don't buy German cars. If you need good car buy Toyota, Honda, Saab or something like that. Nice price for nice car.

CONCLUSION:

Euro cars do have electronic problems but that is the price you pay for prestige. No other cars in the world can give you the same level of prestige.

For those of you who have never been to Europe I'll give you the low down. The euro cars you see in the states are the top line cars that people in the states want. Most of your average drivers out here are driving tiny little smart cars or some other ultra fuel efficient econo box. Gas out here costs $4.70 a gallon for regular unleaded so the fuel efficiency is certainly a concern.

How many people reading this post know that Audi makes an A3? I certainly didn't before coming to Germany.

Not only fuel efficiency, but oure streets are not so wide, so if you drive 60 it looks faster than in states. I can't get acura rsx insured because it's to fast.

Where is prestige in euro cars? Enzo ok, Porsch ok but mercedes???? BMW ????

did you even RTFA? one two or maybe even 3? they listed pretty much all the major european exports to the US in that 'least reliable' list.

that is true, but you could say the same for any manufacturer. the fact of the matter is all car companies need to have a flahship model and a side project or they just would not be car companies. europe japan usa and even mexico goddammit, yes mexico can build cars too! lol...all countries have the good the bad and the ugly.
