Its funny how people talk about...
the miata. (i know this is a honda site, but its always good to broaden your horizons...so dont read if youre not interested).
theres a miata enthusiast site called miata.net (some of you know about it), and each month they pick a miata/owner of the month. is actually a cool little thing they do that we might want to think about. basically people submit an essay about themselves and their experience with the miata, perpetuating their love of the car. blah blah...to the point PbFoot, to the point.
so i think its funny how middle-aged miata owners talk about driving a miata the same way as one would talk about deflowering a vergin. its quite amusing...take a look.

anyway, that is all. the captain has turned off the seatbelt sign, you are now free to roam about the cabin.

The Miata is one of the best handling cars on the market today.. People like them because they make driving Fun, and they can be a whole hell of alot of fun on a race track.
personally I'd like one so I can run Spec Miata...

dam i cant even write that descriptive
i would get a miata just because is a convertible and way cheaper than a s2k and as some people have said b4 is a really fun to drive car and the handling is awesome
but again honda is the best

Like most of you guys know I drive an RX-8, but I test drove a Mazdaspeed Miata (equipped with a turbocharger rated at 180 hp) and you know what? That car, is slightly more fun to drive than my 8. Why? Because of its small size and steering response. MAZDA KNOWS STEERING. I have never driven a car from another manufacturer that had better steering response and crispness than Mazda cars. If I didn't need more room, and if I could fit in one more comfortably I probably would have bought the MSM...er....on second thought....I love my 8...but they feel seriously similar.

Yea, it sounds wierd, but theres something about these little cars thats...well...damn!
Ive had my 94 for about a month now, & man I have never has so much fun in a car, ever. At first it was kinda odd because it has a little more body roll than I expected, & the car felt 'floaty' on the roads, but still the steering response & handling was awesome. I suspected the shocks were blown & was sceptical about the tires that came on it.
Well im taking her to an autocross this weekend, so I threw my race wheels off my civic on there (12lb 15x7's w/ Azenis) & holy ****...this thing feels at least 10 times tighter, sharper, & overall better handling. Its been 2 days with those tires on there & damn, its been a freaking blast. I rode in a stock S2000 with stock tires on an autocross track earlier this year, & this car honelstly feels very close to that, with sticky, stiff tires of course. Not as fast engine wise, & I wasnt driving it so I wasnt able to really 'feel' the s2k, but as far as raw cornering, its close, or at least close to how I remember the S2000.
A few of those guys at miata.net drive C5 corvettes & actually say the Miata feels sharper, corners better, & is overall more entertaining than their corvette...
So yea, its easy to think were crazy without ever riding in one, but now that I own one, I understand.
Edit: Oh yea, at all my races, the corvette guys always get pissed because the slew of stock, sub 4 grand miatas consistantly kill their times, its funny as hell.

Haha, kinda reminds me of the article in speed. "Light vs Might." Lotus elise vs Viper. Basically said for fun to drive factor go with "light."
All you need now is the flying miata turbo kit. Check it out.

That will make your car feel even more like an S2K. Amazing little cars, especially how they went virtually unchanged up until now. It's crazy how they handle at near S2K capabilities and the S2K has a better suspension....
I'm actually in the market for an old 91 or 92 miata for a daily drive to school car.

^Yea very true, I was not expecting that from a stock $3800 '*** car'...
Get a 94+, they have the 1.8, a little faster, more potential. Some say though, the 90-93's were more 'sprighty', I guess you just have to drive them.
Edit: Nevermind, I forget you drive an RX8, youre probably not looking for pure performance, just a beater. Just stay away from the early '90s, they have the dreaded short nose crankshaft problem, basically, theyre notorious for cracking.

They had something similiar to the last board i was a member of for owning my prior car. If you go to http://www.stratusphere.us , that is a website for Dodge Stratus, Chrysler Sebring, Plymouth Breeze. Since they are all a type of cloud, we called our cars clouds for short. So they have a member/car of the month there too. They called it COTM (Cloud of the month) Was something cool they did. like 4 or 5 people would get nominated and than everyone on the board would vote on a pole and the winner would than be announced COTM (cloud of the month) we need something like that here, get people recognized ect.. it's something neat and easy to do i'm sure. check out their site, some cool cars, it's american i know, but still. ... they do the same we do!

i heard the 94 was the best of the NA model miatas and the 99 was the best of the NB model miatas (i mean stock, not like mazdaspeed or anything).

Remember my buddy I brought with me to the Mid-A meet that has the 04 Yamaha R1? Well he went down there a few weeks ago and ate it, *hard*. From what I understand, he dumped the bike on a corner somewhere between 60 and 80 and it slid into a tree stump. He broke his collarbone, dislocated his shoulder and broke something else. He's really tore up.
I guess that's what you get for thinking you're Mr. Badass on a 1000cc bike that you got as your first bike and only riding 3-4 months prior. I have no sympathy for him.
Provided I haven't driven one, Miatas are a tad too small for me, and that's pretty much it. I'm sure if I did get behind the wheel, I might feel different. Personally, I'm happy with my Honda, thank you.
