Going from Auto to Manual

I have been driving an auto all my life.

Yesterday, I got to drive a manual for the whole day for the first time..

I found it VERY annoying that I had to keep my attention to the RPM or the sound of the engine to see when I should shift to next gear.

This made me want to get an Auto car for my next car.

Any auto drivers experience this? Would I eventually just get use to manual and start loving it?

After some time, ya dont think about it anymore.

Ya can be talking on the phone with the music on and still be shifting without looking at your RPMs. Just gotta get to know the car. Its pretty easy though, I mean, you can tell when you need to upshift just by the pull of the car.

Trust me man, after driving it for a few days, you wont even think about shifting. NO ONE looks at their tach everytime they are shifting. Once you become used to it, its like butter

TSX also comes in a 6-speed Manual, but if u want an auto-stick than you'll never truly learn how to drive stick... MSRP $30,000

it gets better...i taught my friend how to drive stick, he drove auto for his first 2 cars and never tried a 5 speed, now he loves it. He's forever wanting to rev, downshift, all that jazz. it gets better, just have patience, and you should be able to tell rather than looking at the tach.

I also drive auto. I learned manual on my fathers 350z over the summer. At first it was really annoying and I thought why people would take it over an auto. After a while it became fun and a much more "involved" driving experience. I haven't driven the 350z much since the summer so manual isn't second nature to me yet. I haven't driven it enough to make shifting second nature, however I can drive it with ease and enjoyment. I would start driving manual for some time (if you have access to one) and see if you like it. My next car will be a stick, however that's in a couple of years from now - for now that auto is fine. If I were getting a TSX or a TL (my parents have a TL) I would definately get the 6 speed - much more fun and a true driving experience. Despite this - whichever tranny you choose either car is a great choice and will have fun manual or auto. Good Luck!

I've always driven stick. I just don't understand the draw of an auto, especially when you want to show off your driving skills.

My daily driver is an auto, but I drive manual pretty often. I don't even think about the RPMs anymore. I just know when to shift. The biggest problem now is that auto transmissions depress me

I always drove auto, but when I bought my merc I bought it in 6 speed...so much fun after you get the hang of it...now I can drive with one hand shifting and steering....of course if you don't want to be annoyed, don't get a german car because it has a heavy *** clutch...my bro's s2k is wayyy easier to drive, it's like driving an auto it's so easy lol :-D
