I wouldn't buy a new car. You're losing money as soon as you drive it off the lot. Unknown problems (see recalls) come up, and you have to keep going back for that stuff. You can get a nice used car, and save some money and thus have more to dump into customizing it. Chick car? Maybe a used MazdaSpeed Protege'?(those things are actually fun to throw around. Factory turbo, etc. Friend of mine's boss races them, or used to. We drove their tent car around all the time. It was for display purposes, they didn't track it. Fun car to drive.)
