if u had a choice..
Ok guys come on, I dont know why every one is saying the civic, its not built to be a racing car, no matter how much the civic trys it will never be able to compete on the 350's or 2sk's level. AND THE CIVIC IS FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. Id so much rather have a rwd car that a fwd. I say get the 350z
the thing about a sleeper civic. it only works for about a week or two then everyone(that matters) will know you have a swap. seriously, most of the meets are between the same group of enthuatists in DFW.
and another thing, nearly all of us have civics and dropping a type s engine is within our affordability if we save up. The S2000 and 350Z are way out of the water for most {people who have bought civics to begin with}. I'd bet that at the time you bought that civic; if you could have easily afforded to buy a Z or S2000 with your own financing and no co-signers; you would not be driving a civic.
another reason, girls and guys *who don't know **** about cars* don't give a damn if you civic is fast or not. still an econo-box.
Also *Uniqueness* in a civic is way harder to attain unless your into custom fabricating and not using mass manufactured body kits and rice parts.

they are dumb. Most of them already have a civic and all they want is the engine. The sleeper would prolly have a shitty suspension, look fugly and will not attract looks from anyone. Also, always having to backup what u say is a pain in the ***, seriously it is. Furthermore, i'd love to see there faces when they try to resell it. Alot of car modders are wary of buying modded cars and regular buyers don't give a **** what engine it has, they go by blue book. so to make the most money, they have to strip it back to stock and part out the rest.
my choice is still S2000. they are rare here and everytime i see one drive by, it looks pimp esp. at night.

To each his own.
FYI, lkm. Engine swapped 7th gen civics are proven to handle better. (It's not like throwing an H22 into a 5th or 6th gen chassis.) And since you're modding the car, with the broad suspension selection, there is no such thing as a shitty suspension on a Civic unless you just buy springs and no shocks.
With an engine swap it could be as capable in terms of handling as an RSX... and if you haven't noticed, some RSXs handle better than a fair # of RWD cars. Something a fair # of S2000 owners are very aware of.
