Carbon Fiber Rims Anyone?

Carbon Fiber....kinda risky. Whatya' Think? Does anyone have any pics with a 7thgen that has the carbon fiber rims on it? There are a few pics of them on the website... http://www.01designsystem.com/01_home.html

They're a metal (aluminum? I forget) skeleton with CF overlay.

lighter than steel? who has steel rims on their car? rims are made from aluminum or an alloy or magnesium, but no one makes steel rims besides the ones that come from the factory w/ hubcaps. and even those are lighter than the ones in the link.

the 17" ones weigh more than my 17" tenzo passions. whats the point? theyre obviously show rims, and thats a waste of money.

ive seen real carbon fiber rims on performance cars like ferrari, but those arent street wheels, theyre for track only. you hit a pothole with one of those rims and you can say bye bye to like a few thousand dollars.

lol...oh, i thought you meant the rims. in that case i agree. CF is stronger and ligher than steel.

I have those rims! I highly recommend them, they're badass!!! And they're pretty light too, and the quality and finish is impeccable! (did I spell that right?) They took a while for the shipping, but it was definetly worth the wait, everyone stops me to ask where I got them and who makes them! I love it!!!

Carbon Creations I think is the company you're thinking of.

They've got a full CF front end for the FD3S and I think the S13/S14 and maybe even a EK9 (Si and hatch).

I work at a company that manufactures composite and carbon products, and I know that carbon doesn't do well in that shape and with that kind of abuse. Maybe with with a layer of fiberglass, still the punishment would end up destroying it. There is nowthing wrong with that magnesium alloy stuff
