s2000 saftey...
my friend is about to purchase a s2000, however, a honda salesman and a honda service person told his dad that the s2000 is so unsafe and it shouldn't be anyones daily driver .. ect. Actually coming from honda workers, his dad will now not pay the insurance or cosign the car for my friend if he gets the s2000. What are ur thoughts on the s2000 saftey, and can u show me any facts, like reviews or whatever, that can prove its not unsafe. The salesperson told him to get a miata and not a s2000. isnt the miata more unsafe? I think honda is baller blockin my friend cuz hes only 21 and going to buy a 05 s2000! what are ur thoughts?

so why would honda say its own product isn't safe? especially a salesperson who drives the s2000 himself. He said the s2000 hydroplanes anytime it rains, it sucks it snow, theres no traction... and the s2000 is a mans car, and no boy should be driving a s2000 as his first car (its not his first car, but the first one hes purchasing)... do u think the salesperson is just jealous?

I can't believe some of you guys will believe a salesman! Salespeople don't know **** except how to sell - they're not big-headed Honda Gurus. If they can do a good job convincing you to buy the car, then they can do a good job convincing you the car is ****. (This is why it's important to know your ****. I think the worse place you can go to find information on a car whether in production or soon to come... is a stealership.)
Maybe it's a racial thing? I mean, come on. A salesman for Honda would have to be stupid to not get paid for selling Honda's top of the line car.

The only thing I've ever heard about S2000s is they windshield can collapse in a high speed (think track speed) rollover incident, but honestly, at 100 MPH, that little window frame wouldn't hold the weight of a car. Other than that, they're perfectly safe. The S2000 Gearbox is arguably the best in the world, and this sounds like the salesguy just wants to be a ****. I say call the dealer, complain that the guy was badmouthing the car's hes trying to sell, get him fired and maybe get a better deal on the car for the hard time your friend got.

But I do agree that just anyone should be trusted with an s2000, its a hell of a car.

I don't know where you guys are from, but if snow is a major concern the IMO S2000 is not the best option. My friend had a 350 Z, and I had to shuddle him around in my Honda when ever there was 1/2'inch of snow on the ground because his car wasn't really safe. I not trying to hate, but I think the sales man was just commenting on its 'practicalness', and it is not a car you want for winter driving!!!
As far as sales men are concerned, they don't know everything, but they know how to sell. If he thinks that selling a rwd sports car to a kid could lose future business if the person drives it in the snow and suddenly thinks the car stinks, he might not want to encourage that sale. These people love, i mean LOVE, repeat customers.
I know when I was young I almost bought a RX-7 Turbo II. The owner of the car as much as he wanted to sell it, told my mom that it was horible in the winter and in rain and had too much power for me. So I ended up buying a 240 hp Super Coupe T-Bird, I was 17 and now i'm a ripe 26!

Good point...we dont ever think about snow here in Texas
Obviously an S2000 is not an option as a daily driver in snow. I live in Ohio and have a Blazer for winter. You'd have to be dumb to purchase an S2000 knowing that you would need to drive it in snow. And about the S2000 being unsafe, he must have just been talking about a young person driving it, because the reviews are fine on it in terms of safety.
i'm from delaware, it doesn't snow that much, just once in a while we get a big blizzard! how bad is RWD in the snow? like if u don't go really fast, its not that bad is it? like if theres just a little bit of snow on the ground, will it be really hard to control the car? or are we talking about a good amount of snow?

When he had his S4, we use to go out and stare at all the BMW's trying to drive around
. Pretty funny( I just asked my friend 1-10 how bad, and here is how he compared it:
depends on the car and tires. My mom had RWD and made do for years, actually all her cars have been RWD up until Audi/Cherokee. The Z was undrivable... I'd saw with snows maybe it would be an 8 or 9 (10 being worst) and ANY FWD even with summers would be a 4. AWD with summers 3 and my car as is 1

It can be done, but I honestly wouldn't even want to drive my S2000 in the winter. It all depends on where you drive and how far you drive each day. I drive an hour to work and if I get caught in some snow, I'd feel much safer in a 4x4. If you drive a minute to work, then who the hell cares. Take the S.
