My friend has a 99 M3, mad miles 101K but has a warranty which is transferable for another 35K miles, he's only asking like 17K, mint ride, dinan exhaust and chip...I know, too old and too many miles, but we're not all spoiled............

^ I offered him 15K at the bar the other nite, I bet you he'd take it. I'd end up losing my licesne with that car though, soooo fast, shitty gas mileage and high insurance and tickets.

How long do you plan to drive this car for?
If its close to forever...go get the G35.
If you know you're going to get another one a few years down the road...get the M3.

If it was me...I would suck it up and drive my Civic. I would use the money towards real estate and retire at 30. What good is a car when its depreciation on wheels?

if your dad can give you this much money why not get a better M3? 45k is a lot........ but if you can afford a car liek the G35 OR an M3 just tell your dad to shell out some more money for a better M3......

So warranty is near over on the M3. That sucks because maintenance on a BMW is rape. Either a an M3 with atleast 2 years of warranty service or the G35 6 speed.

I have. It sounds like you have. Disregard all these other noobs.

Anyway, I just thought up another reason to buy the M3. BMW holds its resell value better than any other brand of car (regardless of what commercials tell you, I am speaking from first hand experience of selling new and used cars and trade ins).

I've seen M3's with 150k+ miles on them still sell for 12000+...they were in good condition but 150 is a lot...

You also have to consider that the 45 k miles on the M3 could have been abused.. well in other words what you might do time to time if u had the M3 that is .. open it up to 9 grand.. im guessing the previous owner utilized the powerful motor MANY times. Alteast with the G35 its no mileage no worries for atleast 10 thousand miles.. besides itl be your car not abused by someone else and then you driving it .. go with the G35..

I love the G35s, but I think the M3 is a better car for the money (resale value and all). Personally I'd wait to see if they'll make a 4wd version of the G35 coupe, they made one for the sedan, but not for the coupe yet... oh man, i'd love a 4wd G35 and slap a twin turbo setup on there... pseudo skyline.

Or your friend could buy a 97 or 98 Supra with decent mileage and take the remaining money and mod the f^ck outta it... that's what I would do.

M3 is better...

just 1 question...so you have to share the car with your dad? and when your friend ask about it, do you have to say your dad owns it?

With the SMG tranny no matter how hard the previous owner drove the M3 it is still is perfect shape. The M3 is ran so much by computers that you cannot mess it up. Does the M3 still have a warranty, cause I know most come with a 100k mile warranty. I have never driven a G35 but I would find it hard to believe to be better than the M3. Keep us posted on the decision.

Remeber he has a down payment.

My choice would be to go get the 04 sti.
Newer models(05) are in so that means a lower retail sale for the o4.
Plus the m3 does 13.4 in quarter mile and
Sti does 13.5 in the quarter mile
HuMMMMMMM
beamer maybe 32,plus
sti 32,000 the most after taxes and ****.

Your choice.
45,000 miles 0r
10 miles.

Na or turbo

rwd or all wheel drive
only advantage is that its a beamer and the ultimate driving machine but the sti are in consumers reports for best car over the m3

Choose wisely
think about how long you want the car and the maintanance

My father in law has a brand new g35 coupe and its bad as hell!!! Fast, looks great and good aftermarket support.A friend of mine has a 2k1 3 series coupe,he had to get a second car for when its in the shop. The repair costs are outragous.$1200 for a routine rotor and pad brake job.The sunroof blew off and shattered in the street and the dealer wouldn't cover it($800) all kinds of electrical probs.... gert the G.

I wish I had this dilemma.

Have you checked out www.edmunds.com for 5-year ownership costs, etc?

well for the info, dad makes downpayment as a gift so i do call it my car and my dad doesnt live in the US so he doesnt drive it either, i make the payments, he will gimme $15000 and the rest is my responsibility. Insurance is covered by dad. I have a nice job means i will be able to take care of the payments while still goin to school. The only thing i didnt wanna do was pay repair costs. But as far as i know, BMWs last you a lifetime, 45K is just scratching the surface.

Its just hard to chose between these wonderful cars.
