Stupid static!
Every single time i get out of my car when i try to close my door, i get shocked.
Does this happen to any one else? I feel so embarassed when it catches me by surprise

I know how to solve that problem, it's quite simple actually.
All that you have to do is, when you open your door, hold the bottom part of the roof with your hand as you get out of the car. That way you're still grounded and you won't get shocked (or as bad). Just try it, it works for me!

Yeah, cause when you get in and out of your car, your building up static electricity in your body(cloth seats)So, when you go to like take the stick out of the fuel hole, your comming into close contact with the metal part of your car, thus, having metal as a conductor of electricity, you get a spark around the fuel area causing a KABOOM.

Sometimes I forget to ground myself and you can see the big blue Palpatine-like spark in broad daylight. I've also noticed that I've subconsciously started touching the doorframe with my palm instead of my fingers. But the strange thing is that none of my passengers have ever been shocked. Maybe it has something to do with building up static while shifting or steering?

I poasted the same thing a while back... all of my civics shocked me esp in the winter.
I was told everything from, throw some dryersheets into the car, rub down your seats with dryer sheets, etc.
I considered complaining with a lawyer to Honda themselves but decided that Id rather stab myself with rusty razors than deal with that.
I guess having a great car like a civic has its price. and shocking exits is one of them.
