2005 Civic Si

i posted a thread asking about the 05 Si a while back...but most of the replies were "wow, theres going to be a 5 speed automatic?" (if you dont know what im talking about, you can check that thread).
anyways, i remember reading somewhere that they stopped making it during april of this year. but i just went on the honda website and they have the 05 Si's

is this the longest that Honda has made the Si ? (MY 2002-2005). i remember that the last generation was only 2 model years? (MY 1999-2000)

i was sort of surprised that they're still making it since they arent selling well. (my dealer was willing to sell an 04 to me for 16,XXX). i guess i was wondering why they're still making it?

btw...whats the chassis code for the current Si? i always thought it was EP3. but while i was reading a magazine today, they reffered to it as an "EG"

EP3 is the current Si, and yes EG is the older hatches. Not sure what 96-00 hatches called.

Soo....what's your point? Is this the longest that Honda has output the Si? The 99-00 Si wasn't the only time they had the Si out in the US market. They had it back in 93-95....as a hatch.

no point. like i said before, i was just surprised that honda would keep building the Si even though alot of people said they were not selling well.

yes, i know they had the Si before 99-00..its just that i didnt know how long they had it for. thats why i asked if this was the longest year. like i said before, im here to learn. i dont know everything about cars.

edit: ok, i think i know how to ask my question now..i didnt really know how to ask it at first, but here goes... I am wondering why they are still making the Si eventhough not alot of people buy them and they are selling them for a bit lower than invoice price. (i got quoted about 16,XXX). wont they lose money on it?

not sure why they are still making it...its possible they might loose money if they just stop making them...when the 8th gens come out, maybe they will have a new si...and they didnt wanna cease production on it and have to bring it back, again...
and the 89-91 Si was a 3 year run...
