We ran both our cars at Englishtown, just with slicks otherwise bone stock, pretty much equally matched drivers - srt-4 wins by almost a second from a standing 1/4. we switched cars to see if it was the driver making the difference, same result.

the 2003 cobra I have heard is significantly faster (13.5 range) but I have also seen these whipped by stock "superneons"...whether you like it or not, turbo four > 10...maybe that's why it has been named by many magazines as
"America's next great muscle car"

anyway...I was referring to the baseline model which is far more common than the GT or Cobra in terms of numbers produced (and it usually comes in automatic...add insult to injury )

About my other three cars...Civic...I really don't think you're going to talk trash about that on here...that would be foolish

Acclaim...lol, if this is a girl car, well...this is an old man car more than anything else...what's girly about driving a box, a square, with a whopping stock 106 HP that's already 11 years old...lol...it's like driving a lincoln, except lighter and not as fancy...definetely not for girls

besides, I figure anything that can run a 10 in the standing 1/4 is not for girls (just kidding girls)

First of all, you should read my post again. I wasn't trying to make fun of anything, just saying that cars that I previously loved to death have been ruined by restyling that is not up to my taste.

Secondly, you don't need a V8 to go fast, anyone with a brain knows this. Please, don't try to compare anything to my srt-4, because I'm going to have to serve you a giant helping of ownage pie.

I dont care what your neon looks like or how fast it is. I don't like them. The fanboys like you make them even worse.

If you care about power to weight ratio why did you even start this thread about missing real muscle cars so much? Your entire arguement doesnt make sense now. A muscle car is a big, heavy *** RWD car with a ton of horsepower.

I know about the fast neons. There a few in the area that visit the local message boards and proclaim the exact same things you do. I'm tired of hearing how great the Neon is from Neon owners.

yep. every SRT-10 owner ive ever met refuses to refer to it as a NEON.. however, i work at a car dealership. we sell ford and dodge.. wanna guess what it says on the paperwork when they sell an srt-4? or when they service it? it says NEON. youre one of the "chick" car people. welcome. also, the REAL mustang (or any muscle car for that matter) enthusiasts would probably call civics a "chick" car as well... btw~ i still dont like the term "chick car".

The SRT-4 is a great car. Drove it a while back and it was entertaining to drive, with it's fat torque band and nice shifter. This car does messure up to the hype that it received from the magazines.

But, like nookiemonster said speed isn't everything. If it were my money i would get an EP3.

Actually I don't give a turd about whether or not you have a life....I was simply joking with someone I frequently wh0re with that I normally don't have a life but for some reason I have over the past few days. Congratulations on being a decorated combat veteran...that has absolutely zero relevance on this thread and/or whether or not you have a life.

see where I'm going with this...when you take a neon, drop a new motor, clutch, tranny, suspension, exhaust, interior, etc. etc. the list goes on...it's not so much of a neon anymore...but if you want to call it that, fine...you can enjoy the view of my taillights all night long

as far as cars go, I can't belive you just said that....here let me hand you some fuzzy dice, some 5" exhaust tips, a widebody kit, and your APC undercar neons so you can have some image to go with that zoom...and how about some chrome spinners for the "bling"...bottom line...cars...go fast, let nothing get in the way of that. people like you can say all they want about my "neon" or my vic or my acclaim or my probe, when it beats the fvck out of you in a standing 1/4 you just look even more stupid for badmouthing it

no offense, but if I owned an srt-10 i wouldn't want it to be called a neon, because the only srt-10's are the dodge ram and the dodge viper. if I was a viper owner and you said my car was just a neon, I would be terribly upset. I hope it was just a mistype and you meant srt-4.

let me clear this up, apparently people are misunderstanding me.

I love Mustangs (in general, not all of them).
I love the ORIGINAL Pointiac GTO.
I love the ORIGINAL Cougar.
etc. etc. etc. you get the point

I am not hating on Mustang owners or any other such sort of thing. I am simply saying I think they took a beautiful car and made it less appealing to me in terms of power production and body styling.

That being said, stock vs. stock, srt4=cobra...look at the numbers, road and track, stock 03 srt4 ran a 13.3, stock cobra ran a 13.3 (they ran a 13.1 with the 04 srt4 because we finally got a limited slip diff then, but comparing an 04 to an 03 is unfair).

I'm not saying either is better. I'm simply saying there are two ways to go about reaching the same goal, going fast. It is possible to like both.

I love anything with four wheels that goes fast.

Errr...if you think that power:weight ratio is not an important factor in terms of car engineering, well then, I don't know what to say...

Someone started bashing my "neon"...I defended it. Simple as that. If you bash my Vic, my Acclaim, or my Probe I'll respond in the same way...shut your mouth and come to Englishtown...I'll let my HP do the talking

I came real close to buying a SRT-4 a month ago...I took it on a test drive and it was really impressive...Yeah, it has the same head and taillights as the neon, but that's the only thing that is the same between the two models...I personally like the SRT, but some people don't...There's no sense of bashing it just because you don't like "neons" or Dodge for that matter.

I never said it wasn't important. I said that muscle cars have never been based around it. They always have been heavy, RWD cars with a ton of HP and TQ.

I have to ask though... do you have any pics/vids or info on your cars?

Let your HP do all the talking it wants. I won't be able to hear it.

I think you mean EPA. Last I checked FAA stands for Federal Aviation Administration and jets get Gallons per Mile, not Miles per Gallon...

Not only the legality of the vehicle emissions and power restrictions, but also your target customers. You want as wide a variety of buyers as possible. At this point I just start repeating what Prod said. Point is, the car companies aren't making cars liek they used to because of govbernment regulations, changes in taste, and advancements in aerodynamics and other areas.

God what a cry baby. I tell you that you have no grounds to stand on when it comes to calling other cars "chick" cars with your "neon," and you gets all pissy. By the way, I really have a hard time seeing how you can make assumptions about me staring at your tail lights, when I have a GSX-R 750, RX-7 TT (recently inherited from Pops ) and a mazdaspeed pro (for the canyons and yes SRT-4 is faster boo hoo).

Well anyways man, let's just call this pissing match ended. By the way, I do like SRT-4's, just wouldn't drive one. Just busting your ***** about it, because well frankly, if I agreed with everyone on here, then this site would be boring and the monster would not live on...so take it easy man and pass the roach.

All good man...sometimes it's more of a burden than anything else...not that it's a bad car, you just really gotta know how to take care of it. I just got lucky the old man lost his lust for sports cars...maybe the bad back?

lol my old man went to a junkyard in 75 and found a 66 dodge charger with the v8 and the four speed manual as his first car...fell in love with the car as a kid...dad told him the engine had to go

so he found the v6 for it and a nice chrome intake manny and carb and what not and repainted metallic black and the cherrybomb headers ...wish he still had that car to give me

(what he didn't tell his dad was that he kept the v8 in the basement...later put it into the car after he moved out of the house...smart man )
