hey ladies, i was just reading that other thread about girls with civics posting pics up or whatever. i was wondering, what got u (as a girl) into cars? or what gave u a spark and pushed you to start modding your car, instead of just driving like everybody else does...

the reasn why i ask is because i dont really know any girls really into cars. (actually, come to think of it i dont even really know that many who can drive and own their on ride. haha ). wondering why u gals are into it, or what is interesting about it to u. im also trying to get my gf into the scene n stuff. but im having a shitty *** time doing it. so any help would be great! (and no, showing her tons of sexy pics of some of the nicest damn imports out there hasnt worked... )

What got me into cars? Well, my grandfather owned a 76 Olds 442. Loved that car. Wish we kept it. I love classic muscle cars (like the 442 and 66 Mustang or 69 Camaro). But now, I like imports and motorcycles. Will be, however giving up my 2004 Civic for a 2004 RSX. Still Honda....

I got into it when I was younger, my parents were always in auto shows. So I kinda grew up around it, but I also like the look, the sound, the speed, and knowing that I have a love for something.

i feel the same as guys do. i dont feel like its anything more special than guys being into cars. its just a passion, you either have it, or you dont. i started getting interested in cars when i was younger. i dont really know when.. but i do know i was always interested in the antique cars that my paw-paw always had. i'm into imports but i LOVE the classics as well... the 65ish mustangs, camaros... i love the newer camaros and T/A's.. idk what it is.. i love the speed, the sounds of a DEEP exhaust.. i love driving a 5spd. just for the control and.. idk, just everything. my DREAM is to own a 3rd gen RX-7 TT... i chose to buy the civic over that, simply because i couldnt afford to put money into it and i KNEW i would if i got it... *sigh* i just feel a passion come out of me when im around fast cars.. of course, everyone loves a car that looks good, but im not into that much... im way more into the speed part of it.. *shrugs* its not so weird to me.

its not that its more special for girls to be into cars than guys. just that its Rare. and for me, i think that there is a big difference in how women view cars and the whole scene. its nice to hear and get different opinions from time to time on things. thats why i asked. heh



btw. anyone think of a way i could get my gf more into imports? haha. personally.. she hates the deep rumble of an exhaust

I really dont know how I got into cars, just kinda happened...

I guess my dad, because has the subscrition to motor trend magazines, and I always read them. I grew up around a mustang 5.0 and I loved the way it roared, so I guess it was that car that started it all for me.

Well, I can tell you how I got into it. My dad has been a membeer of the NHRA (National Hot Road Association, for the slow ones) since he was 16. I was basically born at the dragstrip. I spent my entire life traveling the country during the summers and whenever I could ditch school, to go race with my dad. I packed parachutes, fueled cars, learned how to hit the tree, drive the tow car, got dirty....all with the boys. In 1992, when the jr. dragsters were released to the public, I was one of the first 10 in the country to have one. I was only 10 years old. I raced that car until I was 17 and ready to graduate high school.

I guess you could say my love for imports or the whole scene grew from there. I was a domestic girl at heart, but I love my Honda now. I found this site and saw all the cool things people were doing...show and go. That's when I started with this car. My love for cars goes way back and I can say that it will definitely never end.

You may not be able to just get your girlfriend into it if she has no interest for them...from a lot of the replies that I've read a lot of the girls just kinda grew up with it. My older brother always modded his car when I was like 6 or 7ish and I always thought it was the coolest thing. I got older and showed more interest then my Bf is into car stereo and such so it's nice to have a common interest with him. Then after signing up on this site I met some civic friends in a town an hour away and we all just got a long real well because of our common interests in cars and such.

I was REALLY stoaked at how my gf handled the whole import scene. When I first started to date her -all of her sisters were like "You have a bad *** car! I want it!" and that made a huge impact on my gf. And she started to really strive to be interested in my hobby(of imports) cuz i try to be super interested in her Horse hobby (which isn't easy) Now she absolutly loves having that type of connection with me. So i helped her with her 01' camry -put some rims on it and tint and she LOVES IT! I was so happy about that. The other day im with her and im like: "What do you feel like doin?" and she said "mmm, Lets go get you a new car magazine!"

...I almost dropped to my knees and proposed to her right then on the spot.
