audi a4 1.8 and wrx sti freeway ok so i had my dads car becaues my civic was in the shop. So im driving on 680 coming home from my friends house and i was in the fast lane going about 85-90 and this sick *** wrx sti pulls behind me hella riding my *** so im like ok so i pull over to the next lane and he pulls up to me and it was i kid like my age so frist i drop it into 4th and we go at it we are going like 120-130 in 5th and i was like keeping up with him i was like cool and then he ran into traffic and i past him like going 115 or something and then he gets out of it and me and him r just cruzen at 115-120 it was tight and i was keeping up to i dont thing he new how to drive but i had lots of fun

So, he weighs less, has almost twice the hp/tq as you and yet you "hung" with him?
From a stop or a roll, the STI would walk all over you. Either you are lying, or he wasnt trying.

Well said Nofriends.......I like the 1.8t......but its nowhere near the speed of an sti. The only think i think is.......it was a wrx and the guy slapped on the sti badge. Other wise, there is no way in

Rep Power: 301 Maybe he confused it with a 2.5 rs with an sti badge on it. A wrx would still kill him. Our lowly civics could pull on a stock a4 1.8 t. Those things come detuned from germany. This is they chips give em like 50 whp.

Rep Power: 434 NoFriends: not all A4's are AWD/quattro. my friend had a 1.8T that was fwd and something was wrong with his turbo, I think, so whenever we raced, I would always eat him alive in the launch, but after maybe 50mph or so, he would start to pull on me.
and to the retard who "raced" a wrx sti, maybe you were racing him, but he wasn't racing you.

Either way, an A4 would no hang with an STi unless it had some outrageous mods. The 1.8T engine can get up to about 290hp and equal torque with everything APR has to offer... and that's still 10hp less than an STi.

Although I agree and sti would own the 1.8t, The 1.8t would own our civics (stock for stock) My dad has a 1.8t jetta wich is the same engine except the audi is probably tuned better with better suspension. I went against my dad in my civic and he pulled on me huge. Also im almost positve the 1.8t yeilds 180hp.

I belive that you could hang with an STi on the freeway. VW/Audi Quattro engages "AWD mode" under slippage so on the freeway or when cruising it is essentially a front wheel drive car...good for gas mileage and less parasitic loss when compared to full time AWD like Subaru.
