after oil change
Save the whales, save the fish, hell SAVE US!
Any oil change place will take your oil for free. I buy my oil at Autozone, and take it in a can. I go in the back and pour it in the big tank. NO fee, no worry, and no bad things to the environment. Plus they recycle the old oil and make other things.
Think about it, for free, you can help the planet. And do the right, legal thing.
This is a no brainer. I went and bought a five gallon gas can (the type for toys with a big lip). So I don't even have to go all the time. Plus it seals up nice, leaves no mess, and I only have to empty it once in a year!
Really, it is so easy to recyle these days, why be bad?

I used to take mine to Kragens (I guess it's also called Shcuks & Checkers as well). They accept both tranny oil and reg oil for recycling and no fees are added.
BTW, it's actually against the law in Cali to dispose of used oil in the trash. Punishable up to 5 years and an ungodly fine.

Honestly, I pour my oil in a empty detergent container and then go up to the grocery store and throw it in the dumpster. It is a pain to take it any where cause alot of places around here dont like the oil to be in containers that previously had other chemicals in it. My parents dont know that I do that, but I wont ever tell them. One time I mix oil, tranny fluid and coolant in the same container and my dad took it to walmart. I told him it was all mixed up and he still took it. I just wanted to go around the corner and throw it in a dumpster.

Actually I think it is pretty much illegal in every state. The EPA would have a fit if they caught you dumping oil. I change the oil, put it back in the containers and take them back to Checker. No charge.
when i change my motor oil, i put it back in the carton it came with and watse it at a dump or local garbage place.
if not that, then i stack them up on garbage pick-up day (wednesday) and leave the gallons on the garbage bins and the garbage men take them into their truck with the other oils.

the coolant has lead and stuff like that on it... but if you dumped it in the toilet it's pretty safe and can be recycled... but do not dump oil in toilet not a good idea it will clog up!

Dispose of used oil the right way (heck... even oil change places will usually take it from you). Its not that hard. But then again, thinking is hard for some.
If you are to fu(kin retarded to get rid of it the right way, don't change your oil yourself. Take it to an oil change place. They at least know how to dispose of it the right way.
If I saw someone throwing used oil in a dumpster, i'd probally hit them with my truck.

my dad dumps it, if its lying around in the garage he just tosses it down the nearest sewer. pisses me off. its not hard to drive to the local recycling place, 8min round trip
for motor oil i just stick a funnel in the bottles that i just used which are now empty, fill. drop off at local highway dept dumping place.
i still have antifreeze lying around cuz i dont knwo what to do with it and dont wanna dump it, although that site i posted lists landfills that accept it.
the site lists areas that accept tranny fluid as well, least it did for my area

I've heard that any place that sells motor oil has to be able to take used oil for dispossal but I'm not sure. I went to fleet farm once and the manager said they didn't have anywhere for it... so I dumped it on there brand new cement in front (only like 1/4 of it) and left :-/
How pathetic. They make it terribly easy to recycle the oil. Make it illegal to dump it.
Yet, some people will be so lazy and stupid that they will contaminate the world, just out of sheer laziness. Hopefully your children will be able to walk on the grass.
Yet have some company do this and you would be bitching about money and your life and cancer, blah, blah, blah. You are the same. Wrong is wrong.
