how can you tell if your car is totaled
how can you tell if your car is totaled
the other night my girlfriend had a blow out and he 01 civic went off road into a road sign. it broke the windshield, poped the front tire and dented it up real good. its gonna need a new bumper and the apillars are both dented in real good. arent the a pillars part of the frame on this car. im pretty sure its a unibody. do you think that might total the car.
If your insurance finds it is more $$$ to repair than the worth of the car then they will say it's totaled. If you're doing it yourself - if you go to the your body shop and they charging more than the current worth of the car it's totaled. I had a friend with a Hyundai Elantra - she drove over a parking divider and totaled her car. It didn't seems as if it was totaled but the damage was around $8,000 when the car was only worth $7,000. You can't tall yourself, unless you body body and mechanic work yourself, if your car is totaled - let your insurance decide - it's easiest that way.

^^ depends, Frame repair is expensive, but it still doesnt mean the car is automatically Totalled. (and a good body shop can actually repair the car to better then factory spec too.)

frame damage on the apillars are a definite total......
even if a repair shop can fix this more than likely they will replace the apillar with a new one resulting in a hefty bill
you cant repair apillars because the metals already weakend

^^ depends if its crushed or bent. if the skin has just been crushed, then its pretty easy to fix. if the pillar is actually bent then the car is going to have to spend some time on a frame bench, But even still, it doesnt mean the car is automatically Totaled.

frame damage or air bag deployed usually gets labeled ''Totaled'' and with the a pillar they take out the glass and cut the bent piece off and weld a whole new piece on and then body work and paint
