Wise man

Should i just take all the aftermarket parts off and replace them with the
stock parts? I seems to me that the "performance" parts just add noise but no performance gains.

Saw this post on another board. At least he learned before he spent too much.
Pretty much sums it all up. It appears to only pertain the the SOHC motors though. i did put on an AEM SRI and an axle back muffler and got the same performance only louder on the DX.

I would say just stay with what you have; don't add more to the D17. It cost a lot of money to make this engine fast so you have to waive your choices.

To me it wasn't worth it to spend more on it, but for you it might be. I have an intake and probably I will soon take it off.

hey dude, I pretty much agree, I keep my civic stock, I do mess with it, but I get stock OEM upgrades to keep it stock and keep the value up. I got honda oem si 15" alloys (came with 14" steel wheels with covers), I snagged an oem honda exaust tip, got my windows tinted, got some splash/mud guards(currently I took em off, due to a vote on here to take them off! I might put em back on..., and I have a K&N drop in air filter (which is unseen). I love my civic and still race people with my light stock civic on the street if they want to go....

any Hondas? are you sure? If you are not sure of what you said, you can always take it back. Because I can name you a Honda that is worth modifying.

Anyway, I agree that the money spent for SOHC NA application is worthless. Having said that, I installed a cheap Header and Exhaust I figured, no matter how much money I spend on this D17, it wont be as fast. The money I spent buying this stuff came from the fund when I sold my aftermarket parts from my WRX

Seems like the money spent is better off with Honda Aero Kit. But why get an Aero Kit when you have nothing to back it up with anyway?

Stay stock. Thats what I said to myself soon as I got my Civic.

But having an extra cash and having an I/H/E at the minimum on my previous cars, didnt stopped me from getting the header and exhaust at least.

Well, Honda called it Aero Kit if you have an 04-up

The side-skirts made the huge difference between the two. Thus, Honda called them Aero Kit.

2003-Below, OEM Kit.

nonetheless, they are 'almost' the same.

Depends on what you mod. Suspension wise you can make civics in to lil cornering monsters. and it doesnt really take that much effort either, you just have to get the right parts and spend a little time tuning.

If that's the case, why spend so much time on this board???

I mod my Honda because I enjoy the results. I'm not interested in a screaming 1/4 miler. I want a car that's fun to drive. A stock civic is about as much fun as my gandmother's underwear. My modded vic looks good and is fun to drive.

since when was this board only performance oriented? think before you speak jackass. and stock civics arent fun to drive? what mods do you have that makes yours so much better? just because your car sounds louder than stock, doesnt mean its faster than stock....

I know my vic is slow - I also know that with added bolt-ons it will still be slow. I'm taking my money and putting it into a new sound system. It makes the car more fun to drive, and that's what I'm in to. I like my civic stock and plan on keeping it that way. It'll keep the re-sale up and keep it looking clean for as long as I own it! Performance parts just aren't worth it to me - to0 much $$ - not enough gain.

I had a GS-R and a hatch get stolen so it's nice not having something everyone wants. My car has a little in every area as it wears. Good oil, brake pads, intake, tires, springs, good clutch and trany fluid. Ya know!

i have to agree to some point... performance parts for the hondas/ acuras are kinda up there in price... the gains are almost un-noticeable and the noise come with most of these parts. however an intake and exhaust/highflowcat (depending on brand and quality) does make a slight difference. with these parts combined it allows better air flow-results? better acceleration. Take them off and you'll notice the difference right away... (depending on mods and vehicle)

All you gotta do is not race them so you dont get humiliated.

to each their own,
I agree.

Im not even into Audio, Im not into show. Where does that leaved me? You got it, mods that give me personal satisfaction. I just cant stay stock, especially the stock suspension and hub caps.
