Whats Up With Blue STi's?

i went to the local import show on sunday and it was pretty tight, but all the guys there are mostly into the turbos and superchargers as there was a good 5-7 turbo civic, 2 supercharged civics, some turbo sr20 240sx's, 3 Sti's, and one bad *** evo VIII. but anyways, back to my question.

alright, here is what i dont get. there were 3 stock Blue WRX Sti's at the car show. first there was just one and when he popped his hood i noticed that it was a much darker blue in there no where near the color of his car. it was almost as dark a blue as the EBP and you can see where it was sprayed to the outside color of the stock Blue starting on his inner part of the fenders. I figured that he purchased a dark blue one, then decided to paint it the other stock blue that everyone gets. thing is 2 more stock blue sti's rolled up to the show and popped their hoods and both had the dark blue engine bay and you can see where the spray marks started for the wrx blue color. whats up with this? does subaru use a base dark blue color then put the engine in and paint the outside of the car only? someone explain this to me please.

The dark blue is most likely a primer coat.

thats weird. i didnt notice that when i looked at the engine bay of an STi at the dealer...but i dont remember if it was blue or black.

subaru has 2 blue colors tho. the STi blue you can get on an STi or WRX, the darker blue is only available on the RS. i would have said something fishy is going on if it was just that one scooby, but all 3 STis?? weird.
