Scion tC
Scion tC
Just wondering what everyone out there thought about the Scion tC (sorry if this is a repaet thread but...) was thinking about trading in my vic for it. what do you guys/gals think?
I saw one at the auto show, they are very nice looking. You can also get an AEM CAI as an option and it also has 160HP and 163ft lbs of torque out the door. Best part is they start at like 16K.
w00t! i test drove one today.. the silver one.. and its wayyyy better than my civic ( my civic being an auto lx sedan and all) and boy i had a bunch of stares on the road
I love the interior and the cool moonroof.. the power ain't soo bad either
one cool feature that i noticed was the the front seats recline all the way back and attach to the rear seats kinda making it a full mattress type of seating.. this is cool because u can be at the beach with ur girl.. and since the top of the Tc is full sunroof .. u can lay with ur girl and watch stars together.. and maybe get lucky..haha
i even asked one of the salesman.. and their planning on bringing a supercharger option for the Tc which boosts it up to 200hp.. from the stock 160.. in like october or earlier
i'm kinda in a situation like u man.. i'm thinking of trading the vic in also in the next month or so
either for the silver Tc or a new 05 vic coupe m/t
don't get me wrong.. i love my honda.. but its kinda getting boring and i need something new and exciting
i'm leaning more towards the scion though

If you need a car right now i say go for a tc. You can't beat toyota reliability and rsx speed for the price of a civic si. Rsx speed as in with the super charger. If you can wait a yr i say you wait till the 06 civics come out. The 06 model should be the 8th gen civic. They already said that they would address the horse power issues in the 8th gen civic. Theres a small article talking about the 8th gen, if you search you can find it. If honda wants to keep market share in the small compact car segment then there gonna need to come out with a civic that can match the tc or bring back the prelude in some form. I think they should have a civic si in coupe with k20a2 and just boost the rsx type s with a k20a so it keeps one step above the civic si. Honda mostly considers toyota as there primary competitor so usually they take steps to either match or beat toyota. Plus usually first yr model cars are buggy so might be best to wait a yr anyways if you did want the tc. But like i said if you could wait, i say compare the tc with a 06 civic si and see what you like better. i have a feeling that the 8th gens are going to be what the 7th gens should've been.

well, Car and Driver finally did a test, 0-60 in 7.4 1/4 mile in 15.7. Top speed 127. The gear ratios is what really impresses me here. But fuel economy sucks among the compared cars, which were Civic Si, Saturn Ion, and Mini Copper S.
I'm not a fan of the tc but it does have some nice specs. I've gotta keep my vic for a while (another few years) so the next time I buy a car the 8thgen's may be in their last 2 years or I'll have enough $$$ to get something a bit more expensive!!!

Im glad I just got my 04 Civic last month. Then I have time/reason why not to get the tC until next summer

fixed it for yah.
^^^ ditto... weighs like 2905lbs. if it was lighter it would have gotten a better 1/4. but it looks good. i was planning on getting it but then the headlamps just killed it for me when i saw it in person. the rear looks like every other car out there.
saw one yesterday, its small, its like toyotas small coupe car like the civic coupe. from the way its shaped it looks bulky and overweight in real life. but im sure its still quicker than the civic. ideal equivlent woulda been the 2000 civic si.

$17.9K is not a surprising price for the SRT-4 after the $3,000 rebate.
tC is selling in CA for $16,465 with no optional equipment included.
^^ RELIABILITY.
My mom traded in her 97 Corrola in for a TC yesterday. I was impressed by the acceleration (very nice)...it can probably outrun a base RSX (tested it myself). I like the way the shift boot is located...kinda like the SI but a little lower. Window price was $17,940, fully loaded, 18" gunmetal rims, floor mats, fog lights...all that good stuff. $5k down, $233.29/mo for 60 mo.

Okay, so $16.5K for a stripped Tc or $17.9K for the SRT and all it's goodies? That is a complete and total no brainer.
I'm not in the market for either, My Civic's job is to get great gas mileage as a commuter and errand car while being fun to drive (deciding between the Forrester and Outback XT for the new family car). Just filled up again today and got 37.2 mpg.. With that said, I know most people on this board probably aren't married with 2 kids, 1 on the way and 200lb of dog.

NEON and Toyota? You are correct, its a no brainer that I would pick a Toyota.
Im surprised that RELIABILITY is not a factor for you, considering you are old enough with kids.
I guess whatever floats your boat.
