Im surprised that RELIABILITY is not a factor for you, considering you are old enough with kids.
I guess whatever floats your boat.

It is a factor absolutely....I have no plans to buy either the Scion or the Neon (FWIW though one can't really compare a Neon and SRT from a reliability standpoint). As far as Subaru reliability, show me another manufacturer that covers things like brake pads in their warranty.

Subaru covers brake pads? since when? I had a 2003 WRX and they dont cover brake pads. And if you have to talk about Subaru's reliability, you have got to be kidding me. They may be AWD, but their AWD is a 20+years design.
And how did Subaru got into the mix?

BMW doesn't make a car I can use.
check the warranty again....it's covered. And no, I'm not kidding you. They have offered AWD on their vehicles for over 20 years but it is not the same design no more then saying a new car is the same design as a model T because they are both internal combustion engines of the same design.
But you're right....I'm way off topic now.
Peace

You asked which car manufacturer offers the brake pad warranty but you didnt specify which car manufacturer that 'you can use' and offers brake pad warranty.Im going to check the warranty on brake pads on Subarus.
May I ask why cant you use a BMW? If you cant use BMW because you think they dont have an AWD, think again. There is a 3-series called the xi AWD. If you are looking for a cross-over automobile, X3 may suit your needs.
it would be nice if tC has an AWD too

As far as BMW. ..Since you are asking, I need a vehicle that is AWD and more off-roadable as well as larger and with a more forgiving interior.. I have an Audi A6 Quattro Wagon but I don't take that vehicle into the mountains nor do my dogs ride in the back (not anymore anyway..they are hell on the interior)...I have an old Legacy wagon for that. I am consolidating cars in the next couple months so that I'll end up with 2 cars instead of three...a commuter car (the Civic) and a "do it all" car that can easily handle local fire roads and dbl track, all my gear and w/an interior that is more durable...the front runners being the Outback XT and the Forester XT (both of which I think are better values then the X3)
...and I'd still rather have a SRT then a Tc

Oops, my bad. I confused it with the Xb.
The Tc looks good though.

Anyway, looks like the Forrester will best suit your needs.
I was unaware of the brake pad warranty. Maybe its due to the fact that I upgraded my rotors and pads right away
I guess you could say that...we of course have no notion as to whether the Tc is going to be more reliable then the SRT but if I was in the market for small car and sports performance was my main motiviation then yeah I'll take the proven performance of the SRT over the maybe more reliable Tc
I'm waiting to be able to drive both XTs back to back....the '05 Forrester XTs are even lighter and though they have less hp are supposedly noticeably faster then the Outback XTs....the Outbacks are longer but are pretty equivalent in cargo room.

I had a chrysler before my civic, i'd trust anything over dodge/chrysler, all the probs i had, prolly was just that the concorde sucked, but I still dont think dodge can compair to toyota..
I will have to agree that the SRT-4 does seem nice (performance for price wise) and has a decent looking interior, i still dont like the neon look.. inside i like, but outside i cant picture driving one..
If performance is the #1 thing you're looking for the Tc and the SRT are way to close in price for you not to go the SRT. Also, Neon has been raced and raced hard in the SCCA for the better part of a decade and has a great reputation. Quality and reliability among different models can vary wildly....it is foolish to lump the SRT in with ALL Dodge products or the Tc in with everything Toyota makes. Again, if performance is what you want, you go SRT, they DO come with warranties you know....if you don't like it, sell it....you'll have no problem. The SRT will be in demand for a long, long time.

The tc definitely looks better than the previous scions before it. If I had a choice between the tc and the civic, it would be a hard decision. How does scion reliability compare to Honda's though?
Saw one for the first time tonight at a dealership in Ft. Wayne. Sticker price on it was $17,265 with auto - very comparable to the 04 EX Coupe manual - pricewise. But the Scion had some features I really liked such as:
4 wheel dics brakes
17" alloys
160 watt stereo
2.4 DOHC with 160 hp and 163 lb-ft of torque
I like the Civic EX , hell , I like my LX. But the Scion has more for less - rare these days , can't wait to test drive one!

They're nice kinda looks like a BMW from the front all glass roof. It comes stock on 17's, it's got a 4 cyinder Camry engine, 4 wheel disc brakes for around the same price as a fully equipped Civic. Saw a black one yesterday on the road. I've been trading for one or a SRT-4.

aw man, the tC is looking really good. I'm starting to look down on my LX a little bit. One thing that really bothers me is the fact that Honda didn't make the civic with 4-wheel disc brakes. Seeing those drums through 17s really sucks.
Have any of you actually driven a TC? If you haven't I can tell you that I've driven a base RSX and a SI and in my opinion the acceleration and handling is better than both those cars. I was surprised myself because the TC looked heavier than both the RSX and the SI.
