You're friend is on crack.
Honda would not do that because they have the RSX for that. If they make the Si a coupe with a k20 then they will have to make it much cheaper then the RSX. If they make it much cheaper then the RSX then the RSX sales would plummet.
There must be balance..... and if they make a Civic coupe with a k20 the balance will be thrown off.

Nothing works better than a Chris except a Honda.

^^ True true...
They could cover the market from two segments. Luxery and economy. That's what they've been doing for a long time. Yes, the RSX is there, but that starts at $20k. If they could have a coupe that's powerful for $3k to $4k less then it could really compete w/ some of the other cars that cost a lot less than the RSX. ie. the Tiburon, the tC and the Celica.
Anyways, Honda hasn't confirmed or denied anything, but the possibility is there esp. w/ the redesign of the Civic.

People would rather buy an economy civic than a fast civic. That's why all these years it's been the same slow car. We here are a very small group of people.
i agree w/ gearbox. i say i bought my car for the economy + slight performance. i know what i COULD have got myself into and so does everyone else here. but when it came down to it...the ease of modding the civic and the 36mpg sticker made a BIG difference in the final decision being made. i for one was either mazda6 or civic ex. for an extra 40 bucks a month i could of have the faster/bigger mazda....but for a difference of almost 10mpg with over 100miles a day to drive...the civic won..hands down
