Rep Power: 266 S2000 VS Corvette
My friend and I had a discussion about a S2000 and a Corvette, stock for stock. He said that a S wouldn't run with a Corvette. And I said I will find out. So help me out

Rep Power: 304 you must have been reading over at honda tuning's message boards lately. Same debate going on there, cept it's NSX -vs- vette. While the s2k and the NSX are both great cars, and great technology from the honda labs, the vette still kills them both, stock for stock. More so the s2k than the nsx. Plus, it's about 1/2 the price for about double the performance. I love my honda, and honda's in general, but detroit muscle is still killing them in performance stock.

Rep Power: 294 I would have to see a stock vet beat a NSX to believe that, mid engine is so much more balanced. Vets are great cars, but on the supercar scale, they are only average. While the NSX doesn't have the power, I think it has better balance. Just IMO, I personally have track tested either, so I'm just guessing here from what I've read in articles.

your a idiot vettes are twice the supercar of a s2k or nsx. the new c6 is 400hp in BASE form and i would not doubt near 500hp for the zo6. when did the nsx ever finish 1st , 2nd in lemans or finish first in any WORLD competion races. to say vettes are at the bottom of the barrel in terms of supercars officially makes you a ricer

Rep Power: 356 Depends on which corvette.. Z06? No the S2000 wont keep up. (Even in the twisties)
Non Z06.. Maybe, Both the new S2000 04+ and the Non Z06 Corvettes run A-Stock in autocross, but the Corvettes tend to dominate. Though not by much (about 1 second according to the resutls of the Atwater national Tour) Even the B-Stock 2000 were only about a second behind the A-Stock leader (In an 89 Corvette)
Heres some #s to back it up..
The top S2000 in A-Stock ran a 110.740, the top corvette in A-Stock ran a 109.210 only 1.53 Seconds faster. The top B-Stock S2000 (Class winner) did a 110.601, so it looks like the bigger engined S2000 Isnt really any faster then the old one....
the Z06, in SS.... Most of the field was in the sub 110s, with the fastes being 107.633

How am I a ricer? I didn't say anything about a s2k beating a vet. Sorry for the confusion, but I thought the C6's haven't come out yet... I was refering to a normal 350 hp vet. But a ricer would rather have his civic than a vette, I on the other hand would rather have a Ferreri or something to that effect. Lastly, we're talking stock here not Lemans

That was my opion and you have your's. But have you raced both an NSX and a C5? If not, then you have no grounds to call me an idiot. If you have, then I stand corrected, but I do believe I said in my opion and that I wasn't sure.

Rep Power: 0 Seen lots of hondas, acuras and vettes running 1/4s. Vette's, even stock, smoke the stock imports. Bolt on $3000 worth of go fast goodies onto an vette and an import and the vette will once again will kick butt. The vette's also don't break at the line nearly as often.
Can't say much about racing in the corners...

about a second....
A-Stock is the faster class, but not by much, on average an A-stock car should beat a B-stock car by about
.1 to .2 seconds on a 60 second course... So like I said, the corvette should be faster, but not by much.
except for the Z06 wich should be about a half second faster then an A-stock car.
now these are based on Perfect runs which never happen so actual resuslts will vary.

In a stright line... it's like a Hummer versus a Lambo, vette kills Hondas. But Hondas are not for straight lines, so I don't use my civic for stright lines. I used to do striaght lines. Had a '73 Camaro, hooked it one day at a drag way buy me, crack the windshield and snapped the driveshaft with the front tires 2 feet off the ground. The car went striaght real nice, and even could go side to side if I wanted it to. But my civic is a little more practicle.

Rep Power: 356 Heres a listing of The cars legal for each stock class http://www.moutons.org/sccasolo/Lists/2003/stockc.html
I run in a class called STS (Street Touring) its actually a pretty affordable class to run in. Its not the fastest but it does have a lot of good compition.
Heres the rules..
http://www.moutons.org/sccasolo/Rule...ing%20Category
esentialy its open to any coupe/sedan with a minimum of four seats, four seat belts; that are not sports car based, with a maximum engine displacement of 3.1 liters, normally aspirated and certain small displacement turbocharged sedans. No limited slip differentials are permitted except for factory standard viscous coupler type units.
Tires are limited to a maximum width of 225, and a minimum tread wear of 140, essentially limiting you to street tires in a effort to keep costs down. Other wise, there are no Internal mods allowed, only basic boltons (To keep costs down) Suspension and brakes are pretty open whith some restrictions.
All in all its a fun class. cheeper then most Stock classes due to the tire limitations. (Stock can run R compound tires $$$$$)

Rep Power: 294 I would like to find some races like that around me (ohio area) and race an old SE-R. Those come with a stock differential, but it sounds like they are a little under powered for that class.
