what's the difference?
The HX powerplant is designed more for high fuel mileage. It is equipped with a 117 HP VTEC-E lean burn engine according to the 2001 brochure. The EX has the 127 HP VTEC. The 01 HX 5 speed rated at 36/44 MPG and the EX 5 speed at 32/37.
The 01 HX was equipped with 14" alloys. The 01 EX had 15" steel wheels with plastic wheel covers. The 01 EX also has power moonroof , keyless entry , ABS , AC is standard , power windows , CD player and map lights from what I see in the brochure.

The HX also comes with the cvt (continuously variable trans). SO basically an auto trans with infinite gears. I think I would rather have an HX.

Hmm... HX was marketed as the gas saver while the EX was marketed as the one w/ the high performance VTEC® engine... lol
Basically price, a slightly different engine and a couple of add-ons.

And I must admit that the shear rarity of the car is pretty cool also.
The dealer told me that there might be 3 in PA. The HX doesnt have power windows also. No moon roof, no painted mirrors and door handles (i forgot which isnt painted on HX), comes with 14" wheels instead of 15" (though HX came with alloys not hubs).
Few other things, I prefer my EX anyday...
