I am DONE with modding!
This is it for me everyone. I'm out of this whole thing. After spending the last 3 hrs trying to put my timing belt on, I realized that it's just not worth it to me anymore. Every time I do something, there are problems. My hands are so numb and blistering right now--I told myself that if I ever get that belt back on, everything stops.
So this is it. It's come to that point where adding stuff to my car has become a chore. Worse yet, it's ruining my life and health. Just not worth it anymore and I don't have the strength for this kind of stuff. It was bound to happen sometime. All of this crap like intakes and engine is just useless. Thousands of dollars and hours spent and for what? A few hp here and there.
Well, sorry to bore you but I had to get this out. I still feel sick now, and I'm already feeling better knowing it's over. I'll still be trolling around the forums looking at posts and maybe posting a few ideas and comments. Maybe even still do a few diy stuff like clean the air filter. That's all.
Anyone feel free to PM me if you wanna talk or just make me feel better. Thanks

dude i felt the same way about my car when i fuked up my bumper. i wanted to get rid of the car so bad and move on to something else, but then i realized i really did like the car and all the hard work i put into it. i even turned it into somthiing good by getting the trunk shaved too when i fixed the bumper. so its all good. im tellin you though, just think of all the time and work you have put into your car and how you always loved it and you will go back to liking moddin it.

Don't get me wrong, I like my car and will be keeping it for a long time. It's just the modding that stops. It's at the point now where it's ruining my life and I'm just glad I can finally see that.

ive thought about it, and then i come to my senses and realize its in my genes and blood and brain, and life every day, it will never die for me, ill be 30 and have this car and well it will be better than it is now
I personally think its more fun to make a Civic look good rather then fast. Making it look good is easy, fun and creative. It keeps the car pretty much stock so you never have to worry about fixing it.
I'm keepin it simple..... I got my body kit, drop and getting my 19s soon. Thats 3 things and they should make my car looks nice. I dont have to worry about warrenty cuz my car is stock on the inside.... besides a decent system.
Sure I have the $$ to install a turbo right now but I dont think it would be a good move in the long run. I need my car for college and everyday driving...... making it look good is just a bonus. I dont race my car, dont intend to..... I just like to cruise in a good looking car that turns heads once in a while.
Maybe you should ditch all the performance pain in the *** mods and go all show..... I personally think its fun, fairly cheap and less hassle.
I got a lot of respect for you gearbox..... you did a lot of stuff YOURSELF, props for that. Thats what modding should be all about.

Thanks HustleLikeM0FO. I'll still be working on small mods as they come up--ones I enjoy doing. And actually I'm really happy with my car on the inside and outside. Now time for it to stop being a project car and start being a daily driver I can enjoy. I really need a break from all this.
gearbox dont stop i know everyone including me on dis site loves there cars and have gone through hard times when moddin **** i am 16 and had a hard *** time puttin in my tach and intake but i learned and i am proud of it u have crazy *** diy's that u did that i would be scared to do and all i am sayin is basically everyone on dis site loves cars and i have felt the way u have before like sayin dis **** aint worth it and how my parents say i should save my money but all i can think about is my car Best of luck gearbox

Sounds good, gearbox. I realized this awhile ago myself, went back to stock and couldn't be happier. Car is more fun to drive when you don't have to constantly worry about what your next move is or what's going to go wrong with it next. Not to mention all the $$ I can save by not adding more stupid crap to the car.

i respect that gearbox, yeah I'd say focus on looks. you drive a civic for gods sakes, there's no point in simple bolt-ons.
anyways good luck with it all, don't leave the forums either, hell i can't even drive yet and I'm here almost everyday. with like 1700 posts or something like that.
hell dude thats why i'm sick of modding my civic. every install job i've done something has gone wrong, or the part broke or something like that and i have to constantly worry about how i'm gonna fix it.....i'm just starting over and getting a new car and hopefully i won't get into the same mess
Dude, I know how you feel. I've gotten mad door dings up at college and I didnt even want to see my car much less dirve it and mod it.. but I got over it.. and you will too. Your like most everyone else here. Once a car guy, always a car guy. It goes in swings. In a few days you'll see something that will get you stoked and back into it. Just keep your head up. Peace

You know, cars are like girls;
1. they always need something
2. some days they act ok, and some days they act like ****!
3. if you mess up something small, it usually turns into something really big in about a week, and you sit there with a knot in your stomach wondering what's next!!!!
4. Sometimes it's easier having something that looks good and drives moderate, rather than deal with something that looks like crap, and is a bit faster paced.
5. Can't live with them....... Can't live without them.
The point is, we all get to that point at one time or another. It's part of owning a car. Most people with a brain that likes to tinker don't put down that wrench so easily. Just take ur time, and get back into the swing of things. It sounds like the modding has stopped being fun and it started being a chore for you. And that's not the right direction. Cars are transportation, and they're fun. But modding them is even better.
Besides, if you truely are sick of tinkering, remember this, theres always something better out there for you
whatever that might be

I wouldnt know how you feel because I never decided to mod the engine or performance, But making a civic look good is what is fun to me. If you want to make your **** faster either turbo it, or swap it. Hope you feel better about your car. Its good lookin, why dont you stop the engine mods and fix up interior. Get some seats, slap some leather in there.

Hehe. Good plan. I'm gonna start saving for some nice things. WIth all the stuff I did, no doubt I could have had a turbo by now. But I'm staying far away from engine related stuff (unless it's easy stuff like general maintenance). It was fun when I would do stuff for looks like kit and rims. And I especially love the look on someone's face when they're driving in their stock vic and see mine. They they have to go back to the dealer and ask why their car didn't come with sidemarkers or clear headlights

Well I was spending hours trying to make stuff work or making trips to the dealer and ordering stuff I broke. I need to start saving money, too.
I also stopped buying stuff for my civic a few months ago. I'm selling my rims and suspension soon, and I'm gonna start looking for a used Supra. Waste of time modding my civic.

it can be rough. i like to focus on one thing at a time and try to improve it. audio is probably my favorite because it can easily be removed, tweeked and perfected, with little cost for materials other than the speakers and amps themselves. same thing with wheels and kits, bolt on things that don't do much are a good thing to stick to.
we all go in too far over our head sometimes. now i don't trust someone saying "this is an easy install" unless it is non essential or i am 99% sure it will be easy. but thats how you learn.

Good points. And yeah, audio was fun because you could actually hear the difference. It's not like putting on plugs or intake and saying, what just happened? I'm pretty happy with my engine mods right now, so it looks like new seats are next
