is 39mpg right????

Ok well Ive been trying to figure out what MPG im getting, so I kept track of all the details from my last 2 gas ups and put in the information to gas buddy ( a site that tells you the lowest prices in your area, and calcualtes your MPG's) and it said according to the info provided I got 39.55 MPG or 7.1L/100km. Could this be correct? how do you guys figure out MPG? btw im in Canada and buy gas by the liter (obviously)

thats sounds really good, but i've never got that high. the highest i ever got was on a raod trip to florida where i got 37 mpg. the way i figure out my MPG is to fill the tank up, reset your trip odometer, drive until you need to fill up again, fill it up again, take the miles you drove for the last tank of gas and divide by the gallons you just filled up with. that sounded really complicated but its easy.

my q45 gets 19 for a 4.5 v8....not bad i say...my civic gets i would say about 35-37mpg when i just got it...but now that it has a bad camber from drifting at a track on stock gear and hitting a curb it gets less for some reason...i dunno it might just be my oil is old

You've got great gas mileage. Is that all highway? Usually I get 22mpg with normal driving. Most with all highay is 30mpg for me.

I usually get 35-37 mpg mixed city and highway driving. My best mpg was on a long highway trip where I got 41 mpg...and that's with the A/C on the whole time, too!

By the way, I have an '01 Civic LX w/ 5 speed.

Well I calcualted it again just like Fletchman04 did and still came out with 39.5 MPG, Im not complaining or anything just didnt expect so much, I dont drive the **** out of it or anything but I dont drive granny style either. I didnt think that 580km on a tank was THAT great. oh well im happy

I usually averaged 30-35 mpg in Cali, but when I lived in Tacoma, I averaged 37-41.
The best I got was whenever I drove to my dads from Seattle, WA to Eureka, CA. I got 42.45 mpg

I've never managed to get less than 30mpg on a tank, even when I drive like a maniac. Average is 35-37mpg doing the daily commute with the AC on and running regular unleaded. Best was 44mpg with the speed control on 65mph for 5 hours (bolt-ons help a bit with highway mpg). The owners' manual tells you how to get good gas mileage. Consistently shifting between 3-4k helps, too. Every little bit helps with these high gas prices, right?

city+highway, and I fill up about 10-11 gallons each time, and my mileage is usually between 350 and 400 at fillups.

i think this is your problem. could it be that you put in your km distance in a miles calculator?

ive NEVER gotten close to 39mpg in my car, and i laugh every time im at the dealership looking at the stickers saying that the car can get that. i usually get like 260-300mpg, and this is mostly highway and some local roads. the best ive ever gotten was 330ish mpg which was all highway, constant speed of like 70-80 from boston to NY.

oh...and where did you find this calculator? i havent seen anything like that on that site.
