Words About The "Si Coupe"
Yesterday a couple of my friends and I decided to go to a couple of dealerships to check out a few cars (350Z, G35 Coupe, S2k, and BMWs).
We ended up going to the Honda dealership first. As we are walking up to the entrance we are approached by a younger looking salesmen. He greets us and we tell him that we would like to take a look at the S2000s. He said that they have the new 04 models but they are not ready yet, but he said that he would show them to us around the back.
So we are in the back of the lot over by the garage looking at the S2K when I tell him "My car is on a lease and I would be intrested in trading mine in and trying to purchase maybe a used S2K in about 3 years." Then he paused and stared at me for a while and then said "You know, if you want to wait another year I can look into helping you trade in your Civic for the new Civic Si Coupe. It is going to have a bigger engine than the current hatchback that is out right now and the car is going to be bigger and better." Then I told him "I have been hearing that rumor of the 'Si Coupe' for a while now, I will believe it when I see it man." Then he just looked at me and smiled.
We stayed there talking for about 30 minutes. Come to find out it was his second day working, and he had already sold a car on his first day. He also showed us his GTI 1.8T and joked about the comparison of it and the S2K.
I have heard talk about the Si Coupe before, and whenever I went to go talk to the salesmen and Honda they had no knowledge of it. But this time it wasn't 'The Word Out On The Streets', I actually heard it from this salesmen. Maybe their will be a Si Coupe in the near future

Yeah, it just had me thinkin' man. I mean, this news was coming outta the words of a salesmen.
But I always thought that the Civic Si was always meant to be a hatchback not a coupe (with the exception of 99-00).
But then again, I have read that sales for the 7th Gen Si have been horrible. So maybe Honda might be trying something new? Who Knows.

there already is a 2004 civic si coupe... even and SiR coupe.. I've seen it with my own eyes, driving around, and at the dealerships... where have you been all this time??
its called the RSX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RSX base 160hp = civic si
type s = 200hp
honda already has the coupe slot filled with the rsx, an si coupe is unlikely...besides the rsx is based on the civic anyways

I was told that the RSX body is based on the Civics chassis because Honda did not have enough money to build it on a different platform.
Base RSX is to what the 3rd Generation Integra LS was. The Base RSX is not a replacement for the Si Coupe, It is a INTEGRA!!!

Here's an idea...go back and talk to this rookie salesman, see if we can all trade in our Civics and get a Group Buy price on these new SI coupes if/when they come out. You'll see the dollar signs in his eyes and maybe get the truth out of him.

And just for anyone who isn't aware (i thought most people knew this) Integras have always been overpriced/higher powered Civics. They've been on the same chasis sence they came out.

I'll believe it when I see it in Hondas up coming line up. The Salesperson has been there for two days. That doesn't mean he know whats true and whats not. The day Honda shows a SI coupe in their up coming lineup I WILL go put a deposit down on one.

Well, Honda markets differently in Canada.
US Si Hatchback = Canadian SiR Hatchback
US EX Coupe = Canadian Si Coupe
I really wish they didnt do that. The sportiest model out of each category should be the Si. Its their little trademark and I think its a catchy badge. And I kinda miss the red lettering. My Si badge is chrome. "SiR" is too ricey and "EX" is just boring. And to get the "R" as in Type-R in the badge it should be something special. Not like the SiR Hatchback.

I actually believe the rookie salesman... The salesman I talked to a long time ago said the Si hatch wasn't selling well and he said that he wished the newer models would come in...

I had told him on Saturday that I would like to trade in my EX for a used S2K after my lease is over. And right before I was leaving he ran up to my car and pointed at a yellow S2K. He told me that it was selling for under $20K but he didn't tell me what year it was. I think I might go down to the dealership right now and go bullshit with him for a while and then ask him to take me for a little test drive in the S2K because he had told me that he couldn't wait to test drive one.
It'll come. They can't sell the hatchbacks in North America. That is why they sent the Si to America as a coupe (6th gen), and that is why next year they will have a coupe to compete with all the sportier offerings from other companies. Because others are selling four door sporty cars, or hatchbacks, Honda will again have a niche product.
