^m3 YOU CAN BRING TO A TRACK LIKE FONTANA unlike the s2k which requires safety measures. The M3 also has a inline 6 which means modified you will gain far greater power than an s2k. There is no replacement for displacement. In the end the choice really is up to you, both are great cars and I garuntee you the s3k will be more reliable.

well, Do you want to be able to have more then 2 people in the car? or does it not matter.
also, performance wise, on track they should be about the same. (Both are classed A-Stock SCCA solo 2 so performance wise they should be about equal)

Ive driven both, the M3 is faster in a straight line, but thats about it.
The S2000 handles, stops, and feels better. The m3 is a pretty big car, while the S2K is pretty small, and the root of sports cars goes back to smaller convertables like the triumphs, and MGBs.
Reliablity? Not even a question, those BMW motors are so buggy, my friends 95 325i has alt of problems, and its not even a high perfomrnace model.

Case in point, I have yet to be beaten by an SRT-4 in an autocross. and Ive driven both my 01 ex and an 89 Si against them.
m3 but im kinda biased not knowing enuff about s2k's.
but are you planning to do any mods?
and btw ive had not one single problem with my motor and its a 95, its just keeps getting stronger with my mods.
and if you are looking for a 99m then its not like its gonna be thrashed or beatin up, it will only be 4 years old. My M has now 63,000 miles and is 9 years old. if you can find a low milage M and you take care of it, then it will last a long time.

i say the m3 because its a nice comfortable sports car with room for four. If you dont use it....who cares....you still have an m3. plus having an inline 6 gives you incredible potential for power. on the other hand...the s2000 is fresh and vibrant.....either way youll be happy. Id lean on the m3 a bit more...you gotta rev the crap outta the s2000 to make it fun i hear.

lease: My question is: You just bought an '04 Civic, why on earth would you have done that and then want to go to a substantial upgrade? Why not get eith or without dealing with a D17 headache?
Even if you turbo'd your Vic, you still wouldn't be able to see either of the cars mentioned in performance.
Do you have that much money to throw around?
To answer the question: S2K, unless you get a newer M.
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

I would definatley buy the M3. Although the S2000 is a fun car and revvs high, the BMW will be much more luxurious. Now i say all the time i want an engine bolted to a frame, very much like an s2000. but given the chance i would love to drive a bmw all the time. Ive ridden and driven a 3 series with an i-6 and it was fun!

my exact same thoughts. Nothing wrong with the older m3 but my friend just traded in his WRX for an older M3 and even though it is a nice looking and performing car, I say the S2K is a bit nicer. Your choice though.
