My 2003 Dx Burned to the ground! Why?
Wow, I can't believe it.
The same thing happened to my cousin's hyundai as she was turning into a Jack in the Box.
She smelled smoke which she thought was from the restaurant and ignored it. Soon enough the back end of the car was in flames. The flames were extinguished preventing the car from being a total loss.
Shop said it might have been a electrical problem but til this day no one is sure what really went wrong.

spontaneous auto-combustion. a car has fuses to prevent fires like that...so it was either faulty wiring, faulty system install or the mob is trying to tell you something.

it might have had something to do with a recall thats out for the civic. theres apparently some clamp on the fuel tank hose that might not be securely on, or might be faulty...that might have been it too. im just guessing, but it makes sense. hose came loose, car is hot, weather is warm...some fuel leaks near the exhaust system and engine and catches fire...the rest is history.
id def. check it out and make sure what started it. hope you had fire damage insurance if it wasnt a manufacturing flaw.

PBFoot is right. There was a recall on the clamps on the fuel tank line. If it was a hot day, that is most likely what caused the fire, ie it isnt your fault.

I got a funny feeling that it started in the trunk, and the alarm was goin off? something got screwed up in the electrical system.

well once you fill a claim with the insurance company, they should launch an investigation...let us know how it goes and what they find...

That sux....I cannot believe how bad your poor civic got burned. At least you werent in the car, and you are ok....
maybe the tank was leaking fumes and when the alarm went off, it sparked the fuel. same concept of why not to use a cell phone at the gas station. sorry about what happen. sad to see another civic go down the drain.

either wut chow said or it could be arson...because ur alarm was tripped so someone could have easily set it on fire while u were busy...if it looks unsuspicious than its easy to pull off....sux man...at least ur alright...anyways that my opinion
car burned
ya guys sorry i have been busy with this stuff. The insurance company is not giving me money cause the car was so new and i pimped them for no down payment(which now is a very very good thing for me), and it was a lease, also i have gap insurance which takes care of the gap between the actual value of the car, and the total loan amount. that is cool otherwise i would be out about 2 grand right now. I am looking at a late model supera turbo, a 93 twin turbo rx7, or a rsx type s. i like speed, but i want something without a lot of problems, this is why i am leaning towards the rsx or the supra. As far as german cars are concerned, i think i can afford the m3, but i dont wanna work for the car you know. So i am gonna try to stay around 29,000 or under if i possibly can. Does anybody know a friend that has either a volvo s40, supera or (i know a lot of you) an rsx type s? cause i would like to be do my hw first, unlike being woken thrown into pants at 11 in the morning so that you could get a car. (My parents made it sound like they were buying the car for me,
, but when we started to sign the papers i found out they were making me pay
.
And as far as the system goes, my friend is going to calibrate a register at his stereo shop, and get me reciepts for 2 jl w7's , and one jl 1000/1 amp, cause i dont have the origional reciepts for the other subs that were in there, i know i get money from the head unit. I am gonna see if i can get reciepts for infinity components. (I actually had those in there but i dont keep reciepts like i said)
