where is buick going?
with cadillac reinvented and doing a great job at that and oldsmobile gone where is buick in all this. all there current line up is in a word BORING. now seems like a good time for them to come out with something good.
anyone...
anyone...
Their last 'great invention' was the Rendezvous.... and yuck to that >_<
Then of course the Rainier, which is a nice car, but nothing new.
I'm with you, I want to know what they're going to come up with next.

I read that Caddy is going to be the BMW/MB fighter while Buick is going to be more of the Lexus fighter... Olds didn't fit in anywhere so they lopped that off...
The Terrazza actually doesn't look that bad for a van. The only thing that actually classifies it as a van is the sliding doors, but it's sporty/luxurious enough to be an SUV.
Good luck trying to find people to buy a Buick over a Lexus =\

GM is going to give them a nice Grave... Especially with thier recent consideration of bringing the Opel sports compact to the US.

well they still have the contract with Tiger Woods, so I am gonna guess that they will keep it around until the contract is over.
I was thinking GM should take buick or maybe bring back olds and turn it into a performance line.. 2 or 3 cars TOPS. one around 17K.. no sound damping stuff weigihing it down, light seats, manual windows ect.. just the basics to keep it light and focus money on the dirve train. then one for 25-30k with power windows, a bit nicer and a faster drive train. With a good body desing they could make it work IMO.

Buick is actually doing pretty well in China, where they actually have a pretty good image, because they haven't been there long and nobody associates Buick with old people. Their marketing also seems aggressive there. Consumer reports recently show that Buick's realiability is actually very good.
The problem is of course that GM has too many brands in the U.S., and one car gets several badges. GM should learn something from Toyota.

La Crosse looks pretty decent, but looks like a Taurus with four headlights with its excessively oval contours.
Cadillac a Benz fighter? Good luck with that one. Their edgy stealth look's getting old. They should stick to catering to hip hop thugs n their Escalades.

Actually, Cadillac's recent advancement is going to trickle down to Buick soon.
The '04 Buick Rainier will be the first GM T360 (Olds Bravada, GMC Envoy, Chevy Trailblazer) SUV to get a V-8.
The '05 Park Avenue, and possibly LeSabre will get the ~280-300hp 4.0L 32V V-8 from the Oldsmobile Aurora.
New models will also potentially come equipped with 280-300 plus hp Northstar-derived V-8 engines.
Unknown, estimated MY2006 V-8 Luxury Sport Sedan, possibly GM Performance Division car.

. . . Pontiac, anyone?
For what it's worth, GM should consider the following:
Cadillac: Keep it. The luxury line has always done well for them. Perhaps they slumped a bit in the late 80's and early 90's, but they're certainly doing very well, now.
Oldsmobile: They got rid of an ailing line. . . . and should leave it that way.
Pontiac: Always GM's performance divison, should have more new life breathed into it. They're re-introducing the GTO, good job! Now just drop the Sunfire, redesign the Grand Prix and Grand Am to be less boaty and more edgy, and they're all set.
Chevrolet: Basic and their breadwinner. GM would not exist without the Chevys. Still, they hold a good market segment as the go-to cars and trucks for many consumers. And hey, they've always had the Vette!

GMC: They make trucks. That's all they do. They do a good job of it. Now they just need to differentiate themselves from the Chevy lineup even more, and they'll be a future image of their former selves.
And then we come to Buick. Really, where do they fit in among the rest of the GM family? It's great that they're still drawing up new designs, but why? What is their image? Pontiac means performance, Cadillac is luxury, Chevy is affordable . . . Buick is just. . . . blah.
Let Buick go, GM.
