I wish I was there to do the inspection with you, I know the E36s inside and out, but Milwaukeeis a bit too far. 
Be Very weary about this car, Find out where it was hit, Front/back Side ect. and check the gaps all the way around the car (BMWs have execlent build quality, and if the gaps arnt even on a given pannel then some thing is wrong.)
Good luck man, but I think you could find a E36 M3 that hasent been totaled for the same $$$

Rep Power: 0 From the experience of my fellow co-worker, do not only depend on CarFax. It is best to take the car to a mechanic and have them do an inspection, this will cost you about $50 to $100 dollar for the inspection, but it is well worth it. If the previous owner got in an accident and did not report it to the insurance company, it will not be listed in CarFax.
