Yes, you can get absolutely raped by shipping costs but that's not always the case. Depending on where you're at you might have a middle man supplier.
For instance. Here in Ottawa, most shops go through Keystone to get their product from the manufacturers like AEM for example. So right away you know that you're paying two overhead costs, Keystone's and the d00ds that you're odering from.
You can get lucky and buy from a great manufacturer like KW Suspension whos main North American distributorship is in B.C so we don't have to fork over the cross border fees.

Rep Power: 0 It doesnt matter what you do, you are going to get screwed on charges, either through shipping, Taxes, or Duty.
What I do is I have it shipped to the border and then I drive there and pick it up and then bring it back myself, sometimes you dont have to pay anything others you will have to pay the taxes, just depends on the border guards.

Rep Power: 0 If the item is made in the states then you don't pay duty or taxes on it. If the item is used like your buying it from someone off a site or something you can tell them to claim it as a gift so you don't pay taxes or duty on it. Anything that is made in the states and is shipped over here has no duty or tax so that's pretty much alot of the name brands. But if it's made in japan and your buying it through the states you will pay duty on it.

I asked for regular ground shipping but they came via Purolator.
anyway, like 6 weeks after, I got a letter from a customs broker asking for $60.
