its not dumb unless there isnt enough ice. Ive taken my car out on the ice a bunch of times on the lake... you just have to make sure there enough first. Right now theres like 20-25 inches in all of the bays, and like 15 out in the middle.

Driveing on ice is actually a sport. I Ice race all winter in New Hampshire. Its basicly like autocrossing but on pure ice. check it out linky linky

THeir not dumb I agree, just have to check the thickness of the ice prior to going out there. I have an ice shack that i leave on the lake back at home and we drive out there and ice fish all day long. Never had any problems. Ya it's weird, but when there are 30 other vehicles on the ice at the same time scattered all around the lake, it's pretty safe.
