Question What mods do you have, how do you drive daily, and how much MPG do you get?

I just wanna get some feedback here so we can all compare. Just name the mods that would effect your gas mileage, even though we all know altezzas and wings take away about 10mpg...

I'll start off:

DAILY DRIVER: Fairly casual (grandpa driver), only 1-3 high revs per tank (once in awhile)

MODS:
No Spoiler Sedan

HKS Hiper Rear Section Muffler only, not cat back.

K&N Drop in Filter (stock airbox)

Neuspeed Sport Lowering Springs (maybe the lower sense of gravity = better gas? haha)

205/40/17 tires on Tenzo-R Passion-5 (19lbs per rim w/o tire) = 300-320 miles per tank before the light comes on (about 30-32 mpg)

195/65/15 tires on stock steelies (heavy) = 260 miles per tank before the light (about 26 mpg)

**Bigger wheels than stock = less revolutions = Less miles on your odometer
Smaller wheels than stock = more revolutions = more miles on your odometer

Engine mods are stock, right now on 14 inch steelies with goodyear ultra ice grip tires, get about 500 km per tank.

In the summer will move back up to 15 inch oem Honda rims with Falken Azenis tires, will get 550 km per tank. ( got that same kind of millage with the crapstones that came with the car)

Mild driving, not very spirited.

No engine mods

Lately I've been averaging about 18 miles per gallon. . . .

Boost is a killer on mileage.

Completely stock except for K&N drop-in filter and new plugs.

I get an average of 22mpg with normal driving. The most ever was 30mpg, but that was with 99% highway miles.

87 grade gas...

87 Grade. Hmm, maybe I should rev a little higher when I drive. I usually shift at about 3000-3300 rpm, would it be better if I revved at say... 4K?

Gearbox: Why do you suppose that your mpg is so low?

When my fuel light comes on and I fill up the tank, its usually about 10 gallons. People say that its not good to drive until the light comes on, but then our tank is like 13.9 gallons or something so I think its okay.

Man, gas prices here in San Diego are about $2.09 for 87 grade. I would use 91 or 93, but I don't think it would make a difference in my car. Civics are so weak anyway...

My mods are cosmetical. I drive like a normal 21 year old. I baby my car most of the time, but beat up on it a little from time to time. My gas mileage is pretty much the same as when I first got the car. I've got over 40,000 now, so I assume I have some loss in efficiency, but not much.

You're right it's not going to do anything for power, our cars take the richer gas a mix it to be more efficient anyways. So it doesn't do much at all. . I use the 91 with ethanol in it.. It's actually cheaper to use 91 than it is 87 in this part of the country.

AEM intake, 5 speed, 87 octane gas, drive like what pheaton discribes.... sometimes 4000, maybe redline 3 times a tank... but usually below 3000. Getting about 32 in the winter... 36 in the summer. 41 was best....

01 LX automatic coupe...

worst -- 26 -- had to drive a little in the snow and probably used up a good amount of fuel getting back into my garage

best 33...

about 80% city (short trips less than 2-3 miles)
20% highways, though when I get on the highway, it can be 5-7 miles of cruising -- regardless, coming back home means driving in the downtown area of my suburb where traffic crawls (takes me 6 minutes to go 1 mile to the interstate, 6 mins to get back from the interstate).

Lately, its been hard to get above 30mpg, but I've also had my oil changed ( the dealer uses 5W30). When I ran 5W 20, I was getting better gas mileage. When I bought the car, it had 10W30 Mobil1 and was getting upper 20s...

Sounds like its time for some Mobil1 0W20, eh?
