funny how GM says:
"An examination of the circumstances of the crashes and the vehicle involved indicated no vehicle condition was a contributing factor."
yet I am sure these people have been driving other cars. I mean, what, they get into this car and they all of a sudden forget how to drive? Come on GM....

Cant say I am surprised about the Aveo.
I never liked them from the first time I saw them.
GM is just trying to get in on the tuner market that the Imports have been into for years. This is the result.

I am sure Chevy does not want to advertise that they use Honda engines in their Malibu which is the Accords direct competition.
If they do advertise that it will make people think that GM cannot design and build their own engines, they have to rely on Japanese auto manufacturers.

Sadboy916 is right. The Aveo is in no way competing in the tuner scene. The Cobalt will be.
MrWong,
I did a seach and all the places I looked at mention the 3500 engine. As sadboy916 said Saturns uses the Honda engine; not on all of its cars.

Anybody knows if the car rolled over or not because that wouldn't be a surprise in a car that is as tall as it is wide. The smalles wrong move on the steering will get that car all 4 in the air.
Nothing works better than a Chris except a Honda.

The Cobalt is the only thing that they will have competing in the tuner scene. Pontiac doesn't have anything in it's line up planned (they haven't announced a new model based of the small platform but they will get a convertible)... Oh and there's Saturn with it's Redline... which I'm pretty sure hasn't come out yet...
The Aveo, will lose to Scions, but it might put up a fight with the Echo and Accent.

I agree with all of you the Aveo is pure unadulturated crap! -did I spell that right? It's absolutely haneous! I agree with Jollysid all the compact american cars are crap but at least the Focus and new Neon look decent. Still would never consider buying an american car unless its a pick-up truck. I'll stick with my Honda, but thanks for the god-awful try Chevy!

i dont think gm tried to get into the "tuner scene" with this car. but dodge did punk imports with the srt-4 , kind of like beating someone at their own game.

Your definetly right in saying this was not in an attempt to get in to the tuner scene. This car was built to compete with the ultra cheap(Hyundai, Kia, Toyota) econo market.
As far as "punking" imports with the srt-4, I'm not sure about that. They certainly didn't "punk" them in sales and in the end isn't that all that matters? The fact is that there really aren't any imports made specifically to be tuner cars, they just get adopted and modded that way. If a few years go by and people are actually buying the SRT-4 which is specifically made for tuners, it may motivate the japanese car companies to actually try and build their own tuner car. It could make for a very exciting time for the tuner community. I'm actually hoping the SRT-4 catches on for this very reason.

GM may sell the most cars in the world at this moment, but their market share is dwindling every year. Why is their market share dwindling? Because they make inferior products. It won't be long before Toyota surpasses them world wide. Toyota surpassed Ford in the 3rd Quarter of 2003 in total revenue to become the world's second largest manufacturer. Watch out General...

I would choose a Honda Element Over a Toyota Scion. cause the element is bigger and high off the ground and safer then a small way low to the ground Toyota Scion.
also element has more horsepower then a toyota scion.

It all depends on what you call "good"... I hear that they're close to meeting expectations, but they aren't selling a ton. They had rather low expectations because it is such a niche car. Like I said hopefully it does better and motivates the other companies to compete, then we could see some really cool stuff hit this scene.
