Why no S2000 Type R?
I don't know if this has been discussed before, but here it goes. I've always wondered why there is no S2000 Type R. There's a Civic Type R, an Integra Type R, an Accord Euro-R, and of course an NSX Type R. So here is my question to you, why isn't there an S2000 Type R? An ultralight variant of the car, even higher output, you name it. It's just always struck me odd that there isn't an S2000 Type R, when there are so many other Honda's which get the Type R treatment...
Maybe there will be someday. The S2000 is not old enough to have Type-R edition releasing. Plus if Honda is planning to release a S2000 Type-R with horsepower like 260-280HP it's going to make people thinking why they have to spend $50000 more to get a NSX with similar horsepowers. If Honda is releasing S2000 Type-R, it would be released in Japan first. I don't even think it would come to U.S. Integra Type-R was the only miracle that Honda brought us even though the engine still has less horsepower than the ones in Japan. This is what I personally think.
im not sure its just my thinking but it might be the engine , the little 2.0 liter engine puts out 240hp, i think honda might have squeezed every ounce of power out of the engine without doing extreme major work. so, a completely built motor for limited public production wouldnt be very economical.
I suppose you're right on the engine front, but maybe make the body lighter like they do with the Type R's, like removing sound-deadening materials, using lighter parts for various things, getting rid of things that aren't necessary, etc...
the s2000 is perfect! where could you improve it? and like somebody said, honda pretty much sqeezed everything they could out of its engine. and it doesn't matter if a s2000 type-r is put into production, it will never exist in the US.
one day i will own a s2000.

It was considered about 2 years ago. I think a one off was even built. 3.0L I6, 360 HP (must have just tacked on 2 cylinders). Did 0-60 in the low 4s and had enough high end to run down a 911 Turbo. Price was in the 50Ks. I don't know if it just never materalized, didn't have enough money to fully develop it, lack of feasiblility or what. But nothing was ever said beyond the initial article about it.

nahh, I would want an M3, the road car and the Lemans car are completely differn't. It really has no race roots other than the chassy.
the GT version has the m5's v8 with widebodykit.
Now what we really really need is a twin turbo 350z which is highly highly possible!

S2000 type-R would be nice. But as dragoon, there isnt much more weight you can take off. Unless youre extreme and are planning to race, there isnt much you really need to do. The car is good as is. Honestly, I feel if Honda originally produced an S2000 with less HP, and softer suspension, the current S2000 would make a great type-R.

well type r's have a red valve cover to set themselves apart from the regular line.. BUT.. the s2000 already has a red valve cover.. so technically.. it is a type r...

There is no S2000 type R but there is a model of S2000 that we wont get here. Its the S2000 Type V. Major Features of the type-V are VGS system, specially developed chassis, an exclusive type-V steering wheel and rear VGS emblem. The VGS stands for variable gear ratio steering.

Funny, the S2000 (Pre 04+) was the top contender for B-Stock in Scca Autocross. Vs cars like Porsche Boxster( along with 914/6,944 Turbo (all),Carrera 2, Carrera 4 (964 chassis),911 non-turbo), Audi TT (225hp, dual intercoolers), Ferrari 308 and 328, Toyota MR-2 Turbo, Mazda RX-7 Turbo ('87-'91), Chevrolet Camaro SS ('96+) and Corvette ('63-'82), BMW 330i 4-door performance package, M Coupe and Roadster ('96-'00),M3 (E30),M3 (E36),Z3 6 cyl NOC,Z4.... Ect ect ect....
Thats quite an impressive list of cars in the same class that can't beat a little 4 banger S2000
Sad thing though, the +04 got stuck in A-Stock, and I dont think its going to be beating the top cars in that class any time soon. (Chevrolet Corvette C4 ('84-'96) Corvette ZR-1)

doesnt a car have to be like 10 years old for honda to put a type-R badging on it? if thats the case itll be like 2010 until its even released in japan. but hell, a stock supercharged s2k i-6 would be nice. but id be thinking it would be n/a instead of f/i because none of the other type-Rs are f/i.
i always wanted the s2000.no it cant be 10 years b/c i think they have a 2000 integra type-r and stuff.neway that would be able to compete with c6 vettes at 360 hp I-6..i like the one that SlvrLx26 posted..the body kit and stuff..neway the s2000 type-r doesnt really sound to right i like it the way it is
