Ect ect ect....
Thats quite an impressive list of cars in the same class that can't beat a little 4 banger S2000
Sad thing though, the +04 got stuck in A-Stock, and I dont think its going to be beating the top cars in that class any time soon. (Chevrolet Corvette C4 ('84-'96) Corvette ZR-1)

Autox is a great way to judge a car, becuase its not based on just accleration like 1/4 mile for instance.

no perfromance is not judged on accleration times alone but lets say you got a car that handles great like the s2k its still not a complete sports car without being able to leave other cars in the dust the average driver is going to post close to 15 secs on the 1/4 thats not blazing quick. the s2k is a sports car in terms of being a roadster IN MY OPINION its not a compete sports car you need both handles and speed like lets say a c5.

i don't know if you've ever seen a s2000 on a road course, where acceleration, speed, handeling, and braking all play a factor, but they're pretty damn good track cars. And to me a a good track car is a great sports car. but i guess we all have a different opinion on what makes a good sports car....

see thats the falicy of the american car enthusiest. all we apparently care about is how fast we can make the thing accelerate. Europe and Asia see things a bit differently, to them a sports car is a fine balance between accleraton and handling. which highlights why cars like the S2000 and Lotus Elise exzist.
Also, its been said that if you dont have to slow down for the corners, then you dont need alot of HP to be fast around a track. (momentum racers)
and one of my fav quotes regarding the elise "you dont need a Rocket engine to move a souffle"

well then of course you won't like an s2000. S2000's are made for turns.
i think goin in a straight line fast is stupid, therefore i'd never buy a v8, unless of course it was a 360 Modena

A V8 just doesn't fit the bill the kinda car i like and want. a lightweight, high reving, nimble sporty car. Not everyone needs 380ft lbs of torque to compenstate for the things they're lacking.....
j/k

and btw you should not be the one to talk about bubbles...

Z06 covettes Dominate just about every thing in Super stock
SCCA Stock classes go like this
SS Top Car Z06 Corvette
AS Top Car Corvette
BS Top Car S2000/Boxster
CS Top Car Miata/MR2-S
ES Top Car MR2 (non turbo)
FS Top Car Camero Z-28 or 350 IrocZ
DS Top Car BMW 330Ci or Integra R
GS Top Car Celica GT or Cooper S
HS Top Car Mini Cooper
This list goes from the theoretical Fastes to slowest Stock class
Listing of other cars in Stock classes can be found here
Note: our cars would be in HS
I run in STS wich is about the Equivelant of DS

FOR SURE THIS WOULD BE SICK TO SEE AND DRIVE. I LOVE THE MUGEN S2000. THERE'S PHOTOS OF IT IN MODIFIED OR IS IT HONDA TUNING. ANYWAYS.
i was just thinkin. About motorcycles. The Yamaha YZF-R1 makes 180 horsepower from 0.999 liters; we're being amazed that the s2000 can do 120/liter, and most quality motorcycles are about this ratio. Why can't they do this on cars? My civic makes 127 hp from 1.7L, and the R1 makes 180 from 700mL less?

Problem with bikes is the Lack of Torque. See horsepower is just a expression of Torque @ RMP, so if an engine can rev high enough it can make good HP (even with low torque), alternatly if a car makes high enough torque, then that engine would also have High HP #s Just at lower RPMS.
(Illistrating the difference between a corvette and an S2000 for example)

It wouldnt be that bad, But say the car put down 85 FT/LB of torque @ 14,500 RPM.... that would equal 160 HP. If we could have all of our 114 FT/LB (EX) of torque at 14,500 RPM that would give us 314 HP.
Problem with this lies in where the power band would be. Mostlikely in the 9,000 + range. So like I said, Virtually unsuable except in race aplications where you would be cranking the hell out of the engine all the time, Not exactly some thing that translates in to high reliability especially for a daily driven street car.
Gearing would also play an improtant part in making a car like that work well,
also, for a car to be puting down 100 Hp @ 15,000 RPM it would have to put down a Measly 35 Ft/LB of torque at that RPM.....
