k20 civic? haha you can crank 400hp out of those Sr20s. Its cheap to do it too! If hes going to turbo it, well displacement wins! Not to mention everything for that car is ungodly cheap to modify its like the mustang of import tunning. If I had one I personally would swap an r34 skyline motor in there and boost it to hell!
They're not ONLY good for drifting, the SR20 block came in some FWD setups also. The nice thing about these motors is that they are bulletproof, which is good for running high boost. The stock internals are strong, and if you upgrade the internals, then it's even that much better. Fuel maps are easy to tune, and the spark is also easy to manage. In other words, when running increased boost, it's easy to retard the timing and avoid detonation.
Essentially, it is the best motor for turbo applications to come out of Japan alongside the RB26DE block.

I posted cheap twice haha! I think if I wanted to put time and effort I would have to get my self a 97 240sx and a skyline front facia. Than I would drop an r34 or sr 20 in it depending on the funds. r34 would be like going all out, anyways to continue... Paint it umm skyline blue with a nice black carbon fiber hood. Maybe do a skyline rearlight conversion and all in all about 17 grand MAXX have a nice
drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrifffffffffffft king!
BTU , He will always own your civic.....Sorry bro

All that skyline "attention *****" modifications aren't necessary to be a "drift king." Why not save the money and use it for tires? You're gonna need a tire fund in order to be a drift king. Carbon drive shafts? A fully adjustable suspension setup? Why not spend money where it's more useful...
By the way, I think you mean "Silvia" front fascia and body panels. The 240 SX and silvia are essentially the same car, except the 240 SX in the US comes with the Pathfinder motor, instead of the SR20DET.

Eh.. i'd race it.
If that motors stock, and your running k-power, i think theres a good chance you can win. If not at least keep it very close. Sure it makes more torque, but k20 beats it whp.
I'm not gonna be a magazine racer, but if i knew someone who had one i'd race him.

The Sr20 comes in many forms. I know you said the SR20DET, but again there are different forms of that. Nissan doesn't label their engines like Honda does. You have to go by the vavle cover to tell what is from. I know the SR20 can handle a shitload of boost. Personally, i suggest getting a b15 Nissan Sentra SE 2.0 and boosting the crap out of it. That would be the newest and last (so far anyway) SR20s in the US. Nissan has switched to the 1.8, 2.5, 3.5, and their new 8 cyl.

yeah i am a member at b15sentra.net, but they don't talk about the sr20 very much. they send anyone interested in the sr20 to sr20forums.com. They are too concerned the with 2.5.

why not just go all the way and put an R33 motor in there? its still cheap as hell compare to like everything LOL. seriously these cars can be amazing
True enough, the SR20 might simply be lighter though, both those blocks being cast iron and the 240SX not being the lightest of cars, one might chose the SR20 over the R33 clip.
Though you're right, you can get an R33 clip for cheap: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=46098

SR20DET is probaly the best imported motor you can get for damn good money.
I got mine for $1500 only thing was missing was wiring harness which i got for $280.
There is 3 different flavors of the SR20: Red(SR20DET: S13), Black(SR20DET: S13/S14/S15) and Black w/ Variable Valve Timing (SR20VET: X-Trail GT) SR20VET is the first production TURBO Variable Valve Timing and Lift Control (VVL)
I got the older red top because I didn't really want to mess with the VVL and be able to boost like 27 psi, plus it resides in a 1971 Datsun 510(Bluebird) so the 400 Hp mine puts out I can barely get to stick to the ground.
Stock HP: 205 Hp
Stock Torque: 203 Ft\lb
Stock Boost: 7 psi (8.5 : 1 Compression)
This motor hands down is one of th emost versitile motors. You can achive 278 Hp just buy bumping the turbo to boost more. With other simple mods as iadding bigger injectors and a larger turbo you can go up to the 400 hp.
Ther are guys doing pretty insane stuff with teh SR platform too. Some dood just pushed 600 hp with a stock bottom end.
Dino Charts 600 Hp SR20DET
Oh yea there might be a few k20s or civics that could be an SR car, but its either a $50,000 + car or the guy with the SR is an idiot! You can't beat Real Wheel Drive RAW horsepower and torque. My 510 has quality time blowing the doors off vettes, porcheas, street bikes and other cool stuff. (Then again the car only weight 1800 Lbds
)
