Regardless, it will SMOKE any civic here. Get over it. It's still a Dodge eh? You're still driving a civic that you struggle to get 200 hp out of. Quit hating and accept the facts. Who cares if it was on high octane with a sprayed intercooler. It makes little difference. Under normal circumstances he's still making more than your little D17 could ever dream of. Numbers are numbers. At the end of the day, while you console yourself that he beat you but, "still drives a Neon/MOPAR/Dodge," he'll be snug in his bed getting ready to run 12's all day tomorrow. And reliability? Come on, who gives a $hit. Who here is gonna drive their civic for the next ten years? Not only that, we can't say how the car is on reliability because the engine has not been out long enough, and plus Dodge really built this car to be bulletproof.
Yes it is on stock internals by the way. My hat's off to Dodge, they really pulled off a nice car, and no I don't want one, it's not my style, but I give respect where it's due, as should you.
I also find it funny that all of you love to bash it for "reliability, it won't last" BS, when all of you cream yourselves at the sight of an RX-7 which is ultimately one of the MOST unreliable cars to date. Overheating problems, flooded motors, blown turbos, and plenty of other problems. I LOVE RX-7's also, but you all sound like a bunch of little whiney bitches whenever a car comes out that might seem "controversial" to the import community. I don't give a $hit if they released it as a SRT-4 metro, (of course not, geo is a subsidiary of chevy), respect should be paid where it is due.

To a degree it is pointless to modify a civic...but atleast you can make a civ look fast....just drive slow....GIRLS MIGHT NOT KNOW THAT UR SLOW.
If the srt-4 came in a coupe I might look into one.

You coudln't even give me a dogde/chrysler....
STI amd EVOs are trash too.
Note on RX-7 they do suck for reliability... Apex seals dies fast specially when turbo.
For a FWD Id rtaher have a Sentra with an SR20VET pushing over 600 Hp.

well that wasnt what I was talking about, my experiance with vipers came before my Autocrossing days, but lets look at the stats..
Dodge Viper, Classes in SS (Super Stock)
Corvette Z06 also Classes SS
The Viper doesnt even come close.
as far as being against HP/TQ.. depends on Platform. FWD Turbo is quite possibly if not in fact be the Hardest setup to push around the track, let alone one putting down 500HP. Youd be getting creamed by cars with 1/4 the power. also, Autocrossers don't have "import Bubbles" in fact one of the most popular (and Fastest) classes AS and SS are dominated by Domestics.
My Viper experiance comes from working at my dads autobody shop (Collision repair) Over my years of working there I did R&I on 2 Vipers (My dads shop deals mostly with High end cars BMW Mercedes Porsche ect...) From taking those 2 cars appart and putting them back together, I was very dissapointed in with them (Originally I was all stoked about working on a Viper, I quickly learnd to loath them) Every thing from Build quality (especially) to quality of meterials dissapointed me. (I had such High hopes that it would be a High quality car, but it wasn't)

sadboy, he is trying to point out that there is more to cars than who can get down the 1/4 mile fastest. Most people here come on here and ask what your car does in the quarter mile....not what it does on an autocross track or what it does at a show or what it does on a road course. There is no Import bubble in autocross. I agree with nookiemonster. Respect and competition are the things we should be looking at rather than hating. You don't need to know the reasons why someone bought there car. If they say they didn't want a car because they thought it was unreliable, then leave it at that. Show some numbers and prove it.

if yout talking about the gts vipers i agree they are build more like kit cars but the new srt-10's are sooo much better in every way. vipers were not ment for autocross just like s2000's are not ment for the strip.
i was not aware that the viper was built for the track. all you do anymore is bash on imports now sad boy, go be sad somewhere else. and as for reliability, someone just recently posted a link to a thread on an srt forum where they were having serious problems with them mere months after purchase. yes, it's powerful, but clearly lacking somewhat in build quiality. does that make it a bad car? it all depends on how you look at it. do you want something with power, reliability, or both. try and look at something objectively every once in a while (not speaking to any one person with that).

^^^ I believe the problem you are refering to is the clutch going bad on some SRTs. Something I would not consider horribly serious as that can in part be driver abuse. EVOs have the same problem but I see no one bashing them.
Do I believe the engine is rock solid? Yes. Am I impressed with the interior build quality and materials? No. I shouldn't be, the car costs $20,000, it's not going to be Bentley in terms of material quality.
It's an impressive car for the price.

Dont expect a porsche for the price of a civic. That answers everyones question about build quality, reliability, etc. If you like what you get into every day and feel good about it then forget everyone else. If you wish you had something else then flame on others and get jelous, then dont post. All I am saying is that everyone is opiniated and judges. Just dont judge from resentment or out of mob mentality. I really do not believe that 30 percent of you who responded that they will never drive this car really meant that. Go to a dealership and drive one. You will be quite happy with power, not so much with interior, and scared from the suspension.

Scared from the suspension? Gimme a break.
If 69 mph 700 ft slalom and .85 g on the skidpad are scary then you must be terrified to drive a civic. Next time know what the hell you're talking about, and don't assume without the proper information.

I am not trying to rival you and please be calm brotha. Anyways, I am talking about driving the car. I no longer look at statistical information because it proves nothing when I am driving the car. I could care less that it holds a good .85g on the track or goes almost 70 on the 700. What i care about is driving it-- period. People can present me with a hundred facts, and I will disagree because I drove it and I didnt quite like the suspension. BTW, I almost bought one, so that tells you I have no hatred or anti-dodge feelings.
Thank you,

Man, this whole import vs. domestic thing just keeps getting more lame. Power is power and cornering is cornering. I love autocross more than drag but, dam, some cars just got power! Gotta love that no matter what type of car.
I've also worked on Dodge Vipers and yes they do have poor materials interior wise especially. But, I'd still buy one if I could afford it! It's like buying a lamborghini and then complaining because a rock chipped the front of your bumper. Or the leather has a crease from sitting in the seats. If you got the money, you like the car, then you will buy it.
P.S. wish the civ came with a turbo model from the factory
