Nope, reliability, safety, and fuel economy sells in this market. The market for speed and performance is quite low. About the same as the market for monstrous trucks. Unless you use it for work, you probably don't buy it. Look how many civics, corollas, camry's, accords, etc are on the road vs how many "fast" cars.

If speed sold, I'd see more porsche's than mercedes, which I don't.

Those little M Z3s are amazing cars and the speed is just unreal.

But damn damn damn are the bodies ugly. Notice how the fellow with the Ebay auction doesn't show any side profile shots.

I love the look of the M coupe personally. Not in that green color though. The Cosmos black with the red/black leather interior. So nice.
