Talking drove an evo VIII

i went over to my friends house to install my new exhaust, and when i get over there, his uncle pulls up in his new evo....and then offers me to drive it!!! he offered me, a 17 year old senior in high school to drive an evo!!! i gave a loud scream of joy, jumped in the driver seat and went for a spin. then, not only did he let me drive it, he encouraged me to drive it as fast as i wanted!!yes this was heaven. the car accelerates, handles, and stops very good. i have never liked mitsu's until i drove this beautiful car.

Even though I had never driven my friend's Evo, I could feel the turbocharged power was just crazy!

2 Much 2 Fast 2 Furious for me. I'd almost certainly opt for the STi, but it's pretty stupid looking too.

Ummm.... I' am 18 and I have driven a couple of Ferraris, Porsches, a 98 Diablo, and a Vanquish... If you know people then you get to have fun =] But to be able to drive a Mitsu Evo... Well, Why not go to the dealership and ask? Its not a RARE car... If you said you drove a nice Black or Red 360 Modena... Then yea, Thats hot...

I've driven one to they are fricken awesome me and my friend hit 160 on the freeway the only problem with that car is ur bound to get a ticket it really sucks. If anyone gets one smoke some of thosem stupid porsche boxters those cars are so gay all they do is look good and the drivers are so cocky when really they have got nothing. An evo can smoke one seriously that car is amazing it capabilities are almost endless.one of the fastest cars Ive ever been in.

I don't mean to hate but don't let a gay movie mess up your head. just cause they used an evo, painted it a crappy color, and put a really gay aluminum wing on it doesn't mean it's not a bad car. also do not hate on the STi, it does not at all look stupid and its 300 hp and equally matched tourque is awsome and has beaten an 03 svt cobra in the 1/4 mile and of course is dominating the offroad autocross sports.

At any rate, the Evo is faster than my civic. So I cannot say ****. It looks like a nice car though, bet the turbo sounds nice.

who says you can goto the dealership and drive one? I did...a few times. I just told them that i was in an accident (which i was that wasnt my fault), and my insurance company has given me a very large amount of cash that is burning a hole in my pocket. They let me drive anything on the lot. I also drove an STi, new Cobra, S2000, RX-8, and 350Z.
Anyone who tells you they dont want you to drive the car cause they dont want to put miles on it is telling you that cause they know you are just some punk kid that is gonna waste their time. I told people that when i worked at a dealership. Someone tried to tell me that about an RSX-S when they first came out. Then i went back a couple months after that and drove the ***** off of one.

A friend of mine bought a white one over the summer. I've never had my head pressed to the seat until he drove me to work in it!
My only question: Why $30 grand?

I guess the extra stuff like nice rims costs alot more. Look at Honda. They charge $1500 for a lowering package, $2000 for ground effects. Dealers can jack up the price of aftermarket stuff on the cars. I guess the biggest question is how long the evo will last, especially if you use the turbo alot.

I am a huge fan of that cars power and AWD. I have a ton of respect for that car. The looks aren't for me though.

My only question: Why $30 grand?
To name a few:
AWD
Turbo
17x8 Enkei light-weight Alloy wheels
235/45 R17 93W Yokohama ADVAN ™ high-grip tires
High-Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlights with Auto-Off
4" Chrome-Plated Single Tailpipe
Aluminum Hood with Heat Expulsion Vent
Aluminum Front Blister-Type Fenders
Customized MOMO 3-Spoke Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel
Customized RECARO Front Sport Bucket Seats
3-Point Seatbelts and Headrest for all Occupants
Brembo Disc Brakes
And not to mention all the other goodies I didn't mention.

Oh yeah and the most important reason. It's a Mitsubishi Evo. Kinda like buy Tommy Hillfiger jeans rather then some generic brand.

I just think they both look incredibly stupid. My boss test-drove both and said he felt like an extra in the movie. Needless to say, he kept his Z3 and is still searching for a suitable replacement (we both think the Z4 is lame).

I don't think the Evo or WRX have much appeal to most males over 35 or females over 25. There's more to cars than performance.

watermelon. The majority of Evo owners are between 20-25 and 35+. There was a poll done on the evom forums a few weeks ago and it actually turned out that they're more 35+ than there is any age range. I love the looks of my evo, moreso than the STi. It's aggressive.

I agree there's more to cars than performance, but some people are STRICTLY for performance. Myself for one. There's tons of evo's that are being built strictly for road racing, etc. I plan on having a daily driver myself. Maybe the lotus elise when it comes out

They are very nice cars, both the Evolution and the STi. You get a lot for the money with both cars. I guess it depends on what dealership you go to as far as test driving goes. I've never had any problems with test driving cars (including M3s, Ferrari 360s etc.). Like someone said, it goes based on how serious you seem to be interested in the car. If I ever did have a problem (on a car I was interested in buying) I'd buy it from another dealer and then come and show it to the dealer who was a ****.
