honda vs toyota
i was wondering what everyone thinks are the advantages/disadvantages or likes/dislikes of honda and toyota. as far as customer satisfaction and quality control, i know more people to like toyota. my dad, who says he'll never buy a honda again (his 98 accord sedan, slowly started falling apart over the years) says his next car will probably be a toyota camry, as he's had toyota's in the past and never had any problems. so whats your take on both honda and toyota? do your folks or anyone you know, like one over the other?
I think it really is a toss up... Honda and Toyota are both great companies with great reliable economical cars. Of course each company will have their bad apples but they have proven themselves over and over again with each of their great cars that have lasted other people 10+ years. But, many people have said that the Honda was a little more fun to drive than the Toyota, in the Civic vs. Corolla category at least.
You are talking about the top 2 companies in cars.
Toyota - reliable, safe, live forever.
Honda - reliable (but not as much as toyota) fun to drive, and fun designs.
It comes down to your style, conservative or more fun.

For me I've always noticed that Honda's are sportier/edgier than Toyota's. Stock they're both great and a lot of my (extended) family owns a bunch of cars from both companies. Most of the guys however have Honda's because they're a little better at the sporty factor. Toyota's are nice quiet cars but their designs and lack of that spark that I want aren't qualities that I'm looking for.
A lot of my family esp. the older people want Camry's because they're quieter and have a softer ride while the younger bunch want Accords and Civics because like I said, they're sportier and the designs are great.

toyota moved ahead of ford when ford focus had problems and the corolla remained as dependable as ever. i bealive the new mustang will push ford back into 2nd place.

I spent some time talking to a group of Saturn and Pontiac/Buick/GMC dealerships around Christmas time and they were all talking about how bad the last year was with regards to slippin out cuz of the economy but marvelled at the likes of Toyota and Honda for pushin through it.

Tell your dad to take a drive over to his Acura deaer before stopping at Toyota.
Anyways, as of right now... Honda has better desing and style imo. Look at the pregnant matrix, the top heavy corola, those cars look like they have cerebral paulsey (sp?). Their camry looks halfway decent and the 4runner is sexy.
I just think the Honda line-up is 100 x better imo.

honda vs toyota......hmmmmmm....thats a toss up. alot of the toyota's look like every other car on the road imo, but honda is more distinguishable. acura is more affordable than both of them, and is cheaper than lexus, the high end of toyota.
i would go honda, but thats only because i have never had a single problem with my car. they can't make every car perfect and make it run forever, but they can limit the duds

i just got back from the mall, and saw a few type s corollas with the body kits on them. they look so ugly and remind me of the new 04' vics (no offense to anyone who has one). i just don't like those little flares in the back on the sides.

I know that Toyotas are reliable cars. But I always liked Honda's style much better. I stick to Honda. I'm on my 3rd one. A 77 accord hatchback that ran great till 2002. The engine finally blew the head. An 82 Accord Hatchback that I gave to my buddy when I bought the 02 Civic. It had NO problems, other than being an automatic
I laughed my a$$ off at a guy pushing a brand new Ford Focus down the street while I still drove the 82 Accord. I actually yelled out at him "82 Honda, and running strong!" He was pissed. LOL. I hate Ford. Owned one..... POS.
Ok, I'm done. But I'm STILL sticking with Honda.

Toyota/Honda are both great cars in general.
I just have to say, I love the new Camry's! Not really because it's really sporty or even fast, but they look very nice.... especially with the black badgine and the spoiler, etc...

It's hard to buy a pos in today's marketplace. Most of the cars out there, whether domestic or foreign, will run for 100k miles with little or no problems.
I have started to like the domestics again as I worked for a gmc/pontiac dealer for several months.
Anyhow, toyota is a great car company and well on its way to being the biggest and greatest car manufacturer in the world. They make reliable vehicles, duh, but they are offer a very numb driving experience. The numbness is why you tend to see older folks driving the toyota brand, hence the new brand aimed at the younger market segment.
The joke of the auto industry is that one day toyota wakes up and finds itself as the new buick.
In the end, honda and toyota both make great cars. You can't really say one is better than the other as far as reliability. The margin one has over the other is so small that it is insignificant. It comes down to preference.

It's a toss up, supra vs nsx, trd celica vs rsx, corolla vs civic, camry vs accord at least that's how I see it, both are great companys and toyotas got the lexus brand as well so you know.
Even though I own a 2001 + Civic, I am must say I am somewhat disappointed for a few reasons, the suspension is not the greatest in the world, the engine even though engineering is good is underpowered.
But the design is sharper than the Corolla. Too bad Honda does not offer OEM performance parts like Toyota does with their trd line. Even though it will cost an arm and a leg.

To thread at hand, I'm on my 2nd. My first accord was at 230k miles when I sold it and it was still going strong. Couple that with the fact the new civic is just a much better looking car then everything else in it's class my choice was simple.
I have a friend with a Camry that's had a lot of electrical problems, but I know overall Toyotas are considered very reliable.
