I think that bringing the Tyoe R Civic to the US would make a lot of people happy but IMO it will hurt Honda even more.

Obviously it is impossible to sell the Type R Civic for around 17k dollars that Civics retail for, the price tag would be around an Acura Type S which is what... like 26k? i'm not 100% sure.

Anyway, bringing in the Type R will most likely sell to guys our age 17-23... around there and how many 17-23 year old guys do you think can afford a 26k dollar car? Thats why most of us drive Civics and not the Acura Type S. The Type R will be marketing to the younger buyers and the majority of us cannot afford a 26k dollar right now.

I think that the Honda sales went down because the economy is in a slump right now..... people arnt looking to be buying brand new car, they are seeking for a way to get by and do with what they have.

Lets not forget that we are the minority of the Civic owners, the majority are older people with a middle class income and they are the ones who buy cars like Civics.

Hopefull everything will get back on track and Honda's sales should go up again.

It's no wonder that Honda's sales are in a slump. Look at their lineup. An underpowered Civic, an overpriced V6 Accord (granted it has 240HP, however many of us can't afford it), and a $32K S2000. Not to mention the fugly, severely hoggish Si.

Just ranting.... Nevermind me.

The van is pretty nice though.... best looking mini van they have on the road. If i was a soccer mom the Oddysey would be the only van I would drive

Just bought an overpriced 04 V6 6speed accord with Navi for $27800.

Not too bad. The dealers were obviously in a slump. Average is still 29K for that car.

hondas sales are in a slump because of the economy. civic sales are down for what ever reason, but the accord and light truck are up. bring over the tyre-r is NOT going to make our sales just magicly go up. as stated before how many 17-25 year olds can afford it anyway. i work for honda and i can't afford one! if you look at the industry as a hole you will see that just about everyone's sales are down, including the big three. like i said before it is the economy, it will bounce back.

SlammedBlueEM2 is on a distinguished road
The Type R is not going to improve sales. 1/5 of the production #s of a Honda Accord for 1 year = the amount of Integra Type Rs were made over a 4 year span. It's like an NSX. It'd take 4 TSXs to amount up to an NSX, but TSXs actually sells and are produced in high #s and NSXs are produced low and don't sell.

Point is, low production cars are more like a celebration of sales - they're not meant to produce sales # or break or harm sales records.

That was the Type R. There's no market/competition for the Civic Type R more than there is for the Integra/RSX Type R - thus no need to push it in high #s especially for the fact it's an enthusiast's car. A CTR may be more affordable than an *Acura* Type R, but there's no secret the CTR pushes out the same amount of power the RSX-S does because it uses the same engine, but slightly tweaked. It has better suspension, I'll give it that but the current EP3 ain't gonna make a CTR more popular to the public.

Get over it - the economy sucks... it's not time for Honda to bring another R to the states. Honda needs a new NSX and a more affordable Integra.

ARE CAPS REALLY NESSESARY?

Honda is trying to put there image on clean burning economy cars, which is obviously not the way to go right now, considering the sales of the WRX, SRT-4 and so on. I'd look for a k20a3 powered Civic coupe in the near future, and possibly the 200hp Type R. It would deffiently help them if you ask me.
