I dont know, I've seen some stock Elises pull some amazing times on track.... But I'll reserve judgement untill after I see the two compete. (they havent been classed yet for SCCA Solo 2...)

Is this incarnation FWD, since it uses a FWD engine? Or did Lotus do something with the drivetrain to make it RWD?

My dad is in the process of buying a new lotus esprit V8. The one hes getting will be yellow. Its one of two esprit down at the thosand oaks lotus dealer, However the new C6 has made him take a long look at deciding which one will best entice him.

Again, that's the difference between American vehicles (brutal HP) and European class and finesse (sp?)...
The Elise is a complete all around vehicle: Great power to weight, great mileage, great speed, superb handling, very reliable
Not shooting down a ZO6, I would LOVE one.... It's just comparing apples and oranges...
How many people have even seen what an Elise can do? And as mentioned, I love to see in person (and firmly believe it could) a stock Elise out-handle a stock ZO6 on a roadcourse....
And many many people would agree that the Elise is the best ALL AROUND sports car....
Just my $0.02

any lotus is a bad *** car BUT he said the lotus is the best sports car in terms of bang for buck and i have to argue that. i even think the zo6 will beat it around the twisties why do some people act like power is a bad thing in auto-x. some people have told me i judge perfromance on 0-60 and 1/4 to much, well i think some of you need to realize 99.99% of people who own these cars never go to a track at all so a choice from a zo6 and lutus elise its up to you but i would hate to have my 40k car getting beat by a camaro or something just because it lacks power. not everything is weight to power ratio.

I've been talking with a lot of the old timer autocrossers I race with about this car, the general concensis is that it will probably end up in SS, the same class as the Z06. Will it beat the Z06s that currentlly dominate the class (Vs Vipers, Ferraris, Twin Turbo RX7s ect...) I dont know. But I think it will give the Z06 a run for its $$$, with half as many cylinders....
and The Elise has be voted to be the best handling sports car in the world by drivers for several years in Europe. a Distinction that the Z06 doesn't have. So well see, any thing we say now is just speculation.

i know what u mean about the ITR motor in it. but it isnt an option, it was a custom install of an elise w the ITR motor in it that raced a cobra R and won a few events. i think that companys name was sun something or panauto.... i pretty sure it has sun in the name though.. w/e that car was so ****ing sweet omg i wish i had the ITR Elise../
^^^ignorant response if you ask me. It all depends on what type of course, and really....WHAT specific course. I've seen a comparison in popular mechanics, where they ran the STi, EVO, MSP, SRT-4, SVT, and Spec-V, and for some reason the MSP came in 3rd. Pretty obvious who the top two were, but it goes to show, that it is all course specific. I'm pretty sure the SRT-4 would rip on the MSP at another course...

SUN performance tunes lotus elise. They are a japanese based company that also in the past has run civic type r with 255 whp NA in racing. The lotus elise is an amazing car but it will egt owned in the straights by the z06. People need to face it the z06 currently has no rival not even the skyline GTR (stock) can match its performance.
C5-R have also owned Le mans for 4 years killing the remaining orca team sold vipers.
nothing beats a vette for the bang and buck, nothing
hats off to the c5
