My nextdoor neighbors just got a 2000 Ferrari 360 Modena F1 in bright Yellow with Black leather interior. It has the F1 transmission (paddle shifters, no clutch). They took me for a ride in it earlier today. All I have to say is - WOW! SO much faster than my dad's C5 'Vette. At least it felt like it... lol. It was so quick, and the ride quality was soooooo amazingly smooth. It handled so well, too. It was just all-around amazing. I'm still in shock from being in it... I've never been in a car that expensive before, LoL. Oh, they even took a pic of me leaning up against it, looking like it was my car. As soon as I get the pic back from them I'll post it up.

yea ferraris are perdy much infinitely sweet with luxury + performance... their paddle "automatics" are faster than a manual could be anyday, i think it takes 1/2 the time to shift thru the gears than manually shifting

I really wouldn't be surprised if the F1 tranny was faster than a regular manual. That thing was smokin' fast man. He broke the tires loose every time he shifted. Pure insanity... We drove down this tiny little stretch of road and we're going... 1st gear... 2nd gear... I'm holding on really tight because we're getting towards the end of the road and he's not slowing down... 3rd gear... and then he says to me, "Watch how good this thing brakes" and we're like all of maybe 10 feet away from the stop sign, and he hits the brakes. I nearly flew through the windshield. Those brakes are extremely good. Didn't even lock and slide or anything. Oh, and the sound that engine makes when it starts up and when it's going... wow, don't even get me started. I'm like shocked now. Everything about that car was just impressive as heck. Man... I want one so bad now, haha!

thats wrong... I have beaten a ferrari 360 modena in a vette. Its zero to 60 time is only 4.5 secounds a Zo6 is 4.0. I raced one down in century city onto the onramp beat him by half a car length.

As for the lambo according to top Gear a brittish racing show the Mercilargo -check spelling- is better than any current Ferrari. Besides the worlds newest and most praised super car is the Pagani Zonda. If you like to see the top gear show with the face off of these cars and how the zonda owns them all download it off of kazza or just Pm me.
Also like to note that padle shifting is not that cool its availble on the M3 as well and the new M5.

I just learned however to respect the lotus Esprit V8 however Im sure if we had a z06 we would have owned it too. Those that know fast cars respect the c5 becuase they know what it is capible of. There are very few cars faster than it and most cost twice to three times the price and if a car is faster it only takes a few mods to a corvette to catch that.
Nothing beats a leginfeller twin turbo corvette quartermile 7 sec !!!!!! and thats a 100,000. Just my .02 cents!

people buy ferrari's for prestige and craftmanship. all in all the C5 is a great car performance and looks, but it is still an american made car. a CHEVY. the ferrari is slower, but it has more standard features, and plus it is a ferrari. yes, the lingenfeller vette TT is an awesome car o-60 in like 1.9 seconds, but it is heavily modded. where as the enzo and other cars you compared it with are stock. im sure if you put your 'godly" up against the ferrari 575 M or the lambo gallardo- it would get its *** owned. so it all comes down to preference. one thing though, for the money the C5 Z06 is one of the best perf. cars you can buy

WhiteCastle, I wouldn't know how fast a Z06 is. The C5 that my dad had was a Convertible; so, it wasn't nearly as fast as a Z06. As far as what you get versus what you pay for, obviously the Z06 is the better buy. Although, in the end, I think I would still choose the 360 over the Z06. I like the looks a lot more, the interior seemed to be more comfortable to me, and the ride quality seemed to be much smoother. The 360 looks quite a 'bit more "exotic" to me, as well; but, that could just be because Corvettes are a dime a dozen around this area. All-in-all, I think I'd have to choose the 360. Now, the new C6 Z06 could change all that... but, we'll just have to wait and see, when it finally comes out.

Edit: Another thing that I forgot to add was that I liked the exhaust note of the 360 quite a 'bit more, as well. It wasn't a low grumble like the Corvette; it was more of the type of sound a race car's engine would make. Very, very nice sounding... at least to me.

Eh, Im not in to the Supercar Look. when ever I see one around here (In Las Vegas) First thing that pops in to my head is "I wonder what he's compinsating for??" and right after that is "I bet I could still beat him through the twistys....." (most people who own these cars have no Idea how to drive them).

True, but that's the same for any car. It's not so much the car that makes the driver; but, the driver that makes the car. I've beaten 350Z's through the canyons with my '02 Firebird V6 Auto (which I is now long gone). Sure, the other guy might have a really fast car, but does he know how to drive it well... that's another question altogether. Now, if you were already a good driver and you had a car that was that much better, I would imagine the possibilities are endless.

Also, I'm just really sick of seeing all these Corvettes around, lol. I used to be a complete Corvette fanboy, but now I'm utterly disgusted by them. It seems like everyone and their mother has one. It's like Mustangs... everyone's got one. *sigh*

The C5 vette has been out 8 years, it is kinda expected. Only 24 thousand vettes are made a year and sold world wide so it isnt like they are mass producing them.
However the new C6 doesnt apeal to my father or me that much. I think our next car is going to be a Lotus esprit V8. Just my .02 cents if you guys like exotic shape it has that. speed? **** its top speed is 190 and fast? 12.8 in the qaurter. Its also noted as being one loudest of the supercars I know becuase We lost to one in a race just thinking it was another ferrari 355 or modena.....
but let it be seen, we have gone through 2 corvettes. vette fans like us are very loyal
Also please never compare mustangs with vettes its sort of an insult!

Sorry if I offended you in any way, WhiteCastle. It wasn't my intention at all. I was merely making an observation of the number of C5's that I have seen in this particular area. I realize the C5 is not a mass-produced car by any means; but, that still does not negate the fact that there are several in this area.

I do agree with you about the Esprit. They're extremely wonderful cars. Lotus engineering is superb. It's really a shame they had to discontinue the Esprit. Hopefully they'll bring it back some time in the near future.

Also, I realize 'Vette fans are very loyal. My father is one of them. He thinks that the 'Vette is God's gift to cars. In many aspects it is. That is also very surprising seeing as how my father has owned many different cars. Several Corvettes, Esprits, Ferrari's, Trans-Am's, even a Bentley, to name a few... yet, he still talks about the C5 'Vette as though it's the best car ever, lol. Although, looking at things right now... he's currently driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition, or something of that sort... So, I guess he's owned a little of everything, lol.

Now, if you want to talk about Supercars... take a look at the Koenigsegg CC 8S. In the Top Gear shootout, I believe it came in second, right after the Pagani Zonda S. Although, I think I'd still take one over a Zonda!

a ferrari is a damned race bred car people... its italian luxury with a serious sports car attitude, with drivetrains and suspensions and controls etc derived from its racing counterparts. they are known for their craftsmenship... not to mention that just about any ferrari looks way more badass than a vette. the z06 is basically chevy's fastest production car yet, compare that to an f50 or even f40, and it will be smoked anytime anywhere whereever... i dont think most* ferrari owners are "compensating" for anything; if they love beautifully designed and crafted cars and have the money, a ferrari of any year is good taste, whether they know it or not... and btw listen to an f40's v12 engine scream, it sounds almost exactly like an indy car and ive seen one on riverside put some bikes to shame

Ya but how many people buy them in the U.S. for driving (as in track days, moutain runs ect...)??? I would think Very Few. Most buy it as a status symbole (I hate Status symboles) so thats why I sat they are Compensating for something. They dont buy it because its an awsome car that begs to be on the track, they buy it so that people will oggle their car and envy them. at least in the US they do.

Ferraris are fast top speed cars.. Even the Enzo and the F50 do 12s in the quarter mile.. compare that to the ZO6, the Ferrari's going to lose. But if it's top speed.. it's the Ferraris race.

F40 = 2.9L V8 TWIN TURBO...
F50 = V12

The F40 probably sounds closer to a CART champcar, while the F50 is more like an F1 machine (after all, its based on the F1 Ferrari technology of the time).

Why do you say that Evo? They made over 33,000 C5's in 1999 alone!!! Some people are confused about the C5. The C5 is the regular corvette, the current corvette, well, until now. Now the C6 is out. The C6 is as fast as the C5 ZO6. Someone said the 360 Modena was slower than the C5, well, the C5 does 0-60 in 4.7 secs. and the Modena's is 4.4. However, there is a $100,000 difference between the two. The C5 has a lot of potential, and with about $10,000 that car will run 9's in the 1/4. I love the Corvette!!!
