HAHAHA! I'm a traitor to the cause!
I've been saving some money for a while for the SF kit, but decided against it. I've been following the new Mustang concept for a while, and after seeing/reading about the production model in Motor Trend, I'm taking the money for the turbo, and trading in my Vic in 2005 for a GT. I'm going to wait until 05 when the price settles down. Just call me Benedict Arnold.

I would wait for '06 and see what the problems with the car is. There is almost always a defect in the first new model of a car. Take the srt-4 neon, fuel problems. The car looks ok, but leave the old in the past. My opinion.

Ford has a lot of work to do to fix their FORD IS JUNK image. So the sheetmetal looks good. Big deal.

Its the same damn thing as now except the new GT is gonna have a rear ind. suspension. Plus, isnt the new one gonna be a 2 seater?
eh I would wait until the 3rd year. Especially with a new model American car. Saw a Mazda 6 on the road today....talk about a nice looking car.
Just thought I would drop that in there...sorry kind of random

My sister has a 2000 GT and that thing hauls... I always had a soft spot for stang's and that new one is hot, hot, hot... I would get it if the price was right... Plus, you can't even compare the low rumble of a mustang compared to the weed whacker whirring of a modded import...
My mother drove a 1994 Cobra for awhile. It was a nice and fast car. My step-father has a 1966 Fastback... <--runs in the 10's with squeeze. He also has a 2000 Z06 Yellow. Now that is a fast car. He is talking about flying down to the Corvette Plant? and picking up the new Z06 C6 with his brother.
I'll flip out and kill people.

mustang models in the past 20 yrs have been bulbous turtles compared to other american muscle, save for the 60's, and they handle like **** on a stick.... besides that its still a ford, and so fun (pffft) to work on...

it looks hot i think. i wonder if it handles the same way the older mustangs did. that would be the one bad thing about it...car just isnt nimble, it was really heavy in the past.

In my opinion your making a huge mistake. Ford has one of the worst reputations for quality. Thats why people say ford stands for Fix Or Recall Daily. I agree that its a good looking car, but its still a piece of crap.
I went to the LA Auto show today and there was a 05 gt it looked nice till you got to the back i didnt like the tail lights it didnt seem to go with the car..I love ford and stuff but i think they really ranked the tail lights other than that its a really sweet ride..
I sure wish my car was newer

Some of you guys are goofy when talking about recalls. I remember a post by JoeB16 that showed Nissan, Toyota, Lexus, Mercedes, and even HONDA recalls that were just as numerous as Ford and Chevy's. I'm by no means a domestic muscle lover, but give me a break and quit acting like riceboys.
As far as the new Mustang, I'm in the same boat as you. The only two things that would keep me from buying a new Mustang would be 1) money troubles - I'll still be in college when the '06s come out or 2) if it handles like the other ones. Don't get me wrong - my friend's '99 Cobra is a badass car, but I prefer the handling of a 2,600lb car as opposed to a 3,600lb car.
Oh... the fit and finish has to be better than the current ones, too. I'm not gonna bash the car and put it down like most other people, but I will say that Honda, and foreign companies in general, put a lot more money into R&D to make their cars fit together like a leather glove and it shows.
Maybe I should just save for a Lotus and a beater.

one example ill give of ford ingenuity -
i think it was the '96 expedition, the placement of the oil filter was directly (and i mean DIRECTLY) behind a corner of the front bumper... get a lil fender bender and that thing is gone... shitteh

Pick up an Elise and forget both the Honda and Ford.... Drive fore the pure joy of driving.
(The Elise is the purest essence of a sports car on the face of the planet) No frilles, no fancy Wood and Leather inlays, just you and the road.

You all need to give Ford (and other domestics) their due. This isn't the freaking 90's anymore. Maybe if you drove a few of today's domestics you'd notice that the quality is vastly improved. Take the new F-150 for example. This truck rides ncer and quieter than any truck out their. Even the Tundra. Took one of these for a spin, and not a damn squeak, rattle, or noise. My brother's 2001 Focus has 25,000 miles on it and doesn't make a noise, while my 03 Vic already has 3 rattles and the clutch squeaks. Face it, today's domestics are getting better quality-wise, and imports aren't as bulletproof as people say. Quit being liitle riceboys about this. Take a look at recalls, since that's one of the more favorite subjects. Honda, Toyota, BMW, and esp. Mercedes have had numerous recalls. Just as many as any other manufacturer. Look as the 7th gen civic. Not really a staple of build quality. have you not heard of people's complaints about the quality of the new Civic? The inconsistent build quality? Yes, IN GENERAL, imports are slightly better when it comes to build quality, but it's not that big a difference in reality. I'm not a fan of domestics, but I'm not stuck on a name or a badge. Just because there's a 'H' on the grill doesnt make it invincible, and just because of a bowtie, that doesn't mean it's crap. If you can't mature and see that domestic cars aren't just crap anymore, you have no business talking about it.
