Lancer Evolution RS

The Lancer Evolution RS tips the scales nearly 68 kilograms (150 pounds) lighter than the Lancer Evolution. Its featherweight status notwithstanding, the RS has also been blessed with quicker reflexes: a front helical-type limited slip differential and a rear crossbar help to improve the handling.

I think the Evo looks better with the big wing. Are those unpainted door handles and mirrors part of the weight reduction?

jiggerachi will become famous soon enough
^^getting rid of all that heavy paint...hehe

I dont think the wing was that heavy, being carbon fiber, seems like it would be more usefull on the performance model wouldnt it, same thing with the HIDs, but who knows. I think it looks better with it on.

Who needs AC, HIDs, Stereo and all that jazz? It's all about performance! And it's more than likely going to be much cheaper than the regular Evo.

No, but getting rid of the wing was. Considering it doesn't really do much.

Its still missing one thing it should have... the active differential system. Mitsubishi is still holding out on the 1 thing that truly makes the car the Evo.

I think that they should have kept the wing. I wonder how much cheaper the car will be. I think they should have kept the ABS though. Being able to stop is a part of performance isn't it?

I like it as far as performance goes... but I'd rather take a GT-A spec for everyday driving.

It's okay for weight reduction, but taking out just the A/C and spoiler would have been enough. Noone will buy that car without even a radio in it.

I can't believe anyone would buy that car as their only car. It'll probably only be sold to people as a dedicated auto-x car. I'll gladly take the extra 150lbs to keep all the extra stuff that they deleted. I mean... I don't think the leather on the e-brake handle really made much difference, and any new car over $15,000 should have power locks, windows, etc.

Evolution > Evolution RS.

Its a race car. BMW makes (or has made in the past) an M3 with power nothing no AC, no radio, Porsche for sure has sold cars like this... $160000 gets you a Ferrari 360 Stradale which has nothing but the racing essentials, you don't need luxocrap to race the car since it'll be gutted anyways. Mitsubishi is just doing you a favor. ABS are NOT something you want going off on the track and its definately something you don't want for dirt rally where you have to slide. It isn't supposed to be a street car. They're selling it as a starting point to build a race car.

mitsubishi must not want to make money by not offering a stereo.
the people who actually by these cars are a very small demographic

I've seen a yellow evo driving around here, but that's it. Not many people have them. I would consider the RS, but only if there's room to add a deck. You really don't need all that other stuff, although power windows are helpful.
