Rep Power: 540 Congratulations Ford...It's STILL ugly.
What's the deal with that oversized stereo? All the unused space looks retarded.

Trahma does not have a 7th gen civic, he has a focus. One of his first posts is in a thread about the upcoming Focus, which most people who replied do not like. Trahma replies, defending the focus, claiming that the civic ripped off the taillight design of the Focus. And that it handles better than any car in it's class. That sounds to me like someone who joins another car forum to flame.
Therefore, I replied to his post, asking if that's why he's here. Nothing else. Most flamers don't go to the trouble of filling in all the info on their profile, so I wanted to know if he was here to stay or here to flame. If you don't like my asking, tough. I offended nobody but you. Get over it and grow up yourself.

That part actually sounds like a quote from the commercial. I've seen too many Foci on the side of the road or hangin from tow trucks to give that car any credit that would surpass that of my Civic. My car has had it's little hicups but nothing compared to what my friends Focus has been through.
I like the power of the SVT but honestly it's a Ford and I don't trust them at all.

Rep Power: 0 i dunno I'm likin that black interior over my Civic, the radio isn't that attractive but the seats are. I wouldn't personally buy one of course, one Econobox is enough in a lifetime, i would move up to like an A4 or IS300, but i like the look. The outside looks a bit too escortish, but no matter.

Rep Power: 376 And ANYONE is allowed to post here and sign up to be a member here. Regardless of what they drive. So if he signed up and filled out his info just to chime in on the focus, so what. he's allowed to do that and is a welcome member in offering his insight.
As for the focus fans in this thread, keep in mind this is a civic site, so you are going to be seeing a lot more negative than positive on the ford focus here.

That's true ^^. One of the main reasons I got my Altezza's was to make the vic less resemble the focus tails.

My previous post wasn't meant to sound like the Civic had ripped off the Civic tail lights In fact, I didn't say anything about the tail lights, although to me thats the only simularity. I honestly doubt either car ripped off each other. It's really not that uncommon of a tal light design in todays cars.
The reason I posted in the Focus thread first should be quite obvious, I own a Focus. I'm co-owner of the 2nd largest Focus club, and let's face it, the Focus has a bad rap. Lots of people say they don't like it because it's a Ford while others say its ugly or has a cheap interior. I didn't like it at all because it was a Ford as well. My previous car experiences were domestics and my experience with those was less than favorable. The Focus was designed in Germany by Ford's european division. Then after selling well there, was brought over to the US. There's a ton of import styling in the car, because it is an import. Just because it says Ford on the grill, doesn't necessarily mean it's a domestic. Ford has cars in other nations such as the Ka, Puma, or Falcon which they produce today, and will never see United States soil.
Working on my car though does bring some domestic pains though, any time something involves something environment related (such as the EGR system) I need the standard sockets, yet everything else is metric. I would agree that the 2005 Focus looks like an american car trying to be an import. Ford is definitely taking a step back on the design in my opinion, but from the performance side, it seems as though they have plans to step forward. A 200hp turbocharged Focus is planned for 2006 as of right now. I just hope they're smart enough to put it in the hatch.
Ford definitely caters to the domestic crowd, they sell more trucks than anything else. Lots of Americans like sedans, unfortunately that means they took over the redesign. Ford doesn't even sell a Focus sedan in europe. I wish they'd follow suit.
As far as a Focus being one of the best handling cars in it's class, if you don't believe me pick up a magazine. As much as I hate to go to magazine racing, pretty much any magazine that rates the sport compacts in the 17k-22k rates the SVT Focus in the top 3. True this isn't a comparison of say a ZX3 (hatchback) vs. a Civic DX and such, but the SVT Focus essentially has stiffer suspension which can replaced in a ZX3 for $600. I'm not trying to make this a Civic vs. Focus thing, but since this is 7th Gen, I'll use a Civic for an example.
My friend owns a 6th gen civic with engine mods pretty closely matching mine, equipped with an aftermarket suspension. After driving his car, I'll take his any day of the week on an AutoX course. Now take a Civic SI vs. a standard Focus, and the SI will destroy it. Take an SVT Focus and a Civic SI to a course, and every source I've ever read points to the Focus as winning. Saying that you've seen too many Foci on the side of the road or on tow trucks has absolutely nothing to do with a cars handling.
I've driven lots of cars and stock for stock, nothing came in close comparison with the Focus within my price range. It's why even after swearing to initially buy an import, I found myself with a Focus.
I realized I would be taking on some negative vibes signing up over here. I'd like to point out that I haven't replied to any statements about the focus being ugly. We're all entitled to our opinions. (and btw, I hate the focus sedan, it's far too high) I always hear the same thing from someone who says they've driven a Focus. "My rental Focus was a piece of ****". Surprise, rentals are usually the lowest model. The 2000 and 2001' Focuses had issues, but the 2002+ have been rock solid.
To sum things up...
1. I'm not here to flame. If I was my first post would have been "AT LEAST MY CAR HAS TORQUE, MY FOCUS oWNZ j00!!!"
2. I haven't said a thing about the Civic other than the Focus came out first. Because I don't know anything about the 7thGenCivic other than what I've heard from DaveyD. Rather than make asinine comments such as "I've seen too many Foci on the side of the road or hangin from tow trucks to give that car any credit that would surpass that of my Civic" has nothing to do with the way the car handles. In fact, it's an opinion.
3. As a Focus owner, I like the new interior of the Focus, but hate the front end
4. If anyone in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area wants, I'll gladly let them take my Focus for a spin, provided you're not reaming on the car. 95% of the people that talk **** about the Focus have never driven one.
I could probably go on, but I've already written a book as it is.... comments are welcome and encouraged.

Rep Power: 291 *sigh* Just when things settle down, someone has to start flaming again.
And why did it take 4 posts to say that? See that EDIT button over there? You can edit your post to add more info. Replying to yourself isn't necessary.
Putting down someone else's car isn't cool. Now if Trahma (note correct spelling) came here specifically to flame, then he deserves whatever you give him. He stated that he didn't, so lighten up.
And your argument about contours and mondeos is full if inconsistant holes. The focus replaced the contour and escort. And if I'm not mistaken, was the american version OF THE MONDEO. The contour wasn't a bad car, especially the SVT. It actually had a pretty good V6 in it. IMO, it was just packaged improperly. It wasn't really all that pretty, had terrible rear seat room, and just never caught on.

They need to start using Fords in Fear Factor. The looks of them will scare the living daylight out of the contestants. Can't believe Ford can pump out so many ugly looking cars on such a regular basis.

Rep Power: 335 Anyways about the Trahma thing going on above with the flaming and everything.
I don't think that it's necessary. I mean. . If you like Fords then contratulations, call me if you need a ride when your car is in the shop.
Seriously though. . coming to a Civic site and trying to push your domestic, Ford Focus over on us, just isn't a good idea. You couldn't possibly have thought that we would say, "oh ok, you're right, the Ford Focus is a lot better than our Civics" . That's just ludacris.
Personally I don't like Fords, that's just my opinion. That's why I have a Civic and am a member of a Civic site. I have never joined any other car model-based forum with the intent of trying to prove my car is better than anyone elses, or for that matter, any future model of my car to be produced.
Anyways. If you are here to stay and you love CARS in general then fine. But if you are here and you don't like Civics/Hondas then **** off, because you'd be wasting your time.
Going back to what I was saying about my experiences with Fords, they haven't been good. There have been at least 12 situations easy, that cause me to frown upon Fords. Maybe that's just the experience that I've had with them, I'm sure there are people that wouldn't buy any other car. Anyways. I'm going to stop rattling on and on now, but I don't forsee myself ever owning another Ford, I've just had bad experiences with them.
